He was very good Saturday, quite dynamic. Would be behind Broomy and Thomas if you were looking at smalls who put their hand up. Played mainly through the midfield and it was a very congested game so racked up a heap of possession. Needs to clean up his disposal and decision making.

As expected as it was, I still feel more than a bit thrilled with this. He's our first debutant this year. VFL gazers and training observers have all made it clear that this kid has the right attitude, and now he has the reward for it.

I watched a lot of the VFL practice games and early vfl games and to be fair Brown didn't look very close to a debut, but then he started getting a lot of possessions and more positive reviews in the games I missed, so has his improvement been significant for those who've watched him? How do you think we'll use him in the seniors? It seems like there might not be too much room in the guts for him to play there in the seniors with guys like de goey not getting a heap of time there, so maybe up forward? Has he been used there lately in the VFL?

Brown was a more than capable small forward in the under 18's. That's where he will spend most of his time over the next few years.

Others like brown, Crocker etc are looming large to spell the days of senior football being less likely for Blair. Injuries aside, that looks like it for Blair.

Brown has been consistently the most impressive of the first year players and it's good to see he's the first one to debut.

He's just like his old man in so many ways, the attack on the ball especially, but he does possess one thing I reckon his Dad didn't, elite evasive skills.

Most see Josh Daicos as the player who can weave in and out of traffic, but so can Cal. He's actually got some very nice tricks up his sleeve, which he has to at the size he is.

He won't make a massive impact straight away obviously, but he can also kick a goal if given the chance.

I'd say more midfield time for De Goey and Broomhead with Brown to spend plenty of time forward with a few short runs in the middle. But one things clear, he couldn't do worse then what Blair was doing at senior level in a similar role.
