The last time I can think of a gun mid being traded for a key forward the tall took his old club's first round pick with him back home.Neale has played 3 years of quality footy and is now in line for an AA.
MCarthy had played half a season of quality footy...not sure that's value for money
If McCarthy keeps his manager making noise about coming back then we are in with a good shot.
After that re: Neale.... They would need to give us a pick as well. He is in the AA squad so is worth more than McCarthy and could add further to that value with a norm smith in a winning gf team!
Silly talk really. GWS are going to be saying Sunshine is not in the equation, but both clubs know that virtually every player is tradeable. If we want to land a decent key forward then there will be a price to pay. It is as simple as that. Especially given that he is contracted.I would be saying in no uncertain terms LACHIE NEALE IS NOT IN THE EQUASION
Would he get a best 22 spot for them next season? If not then forget it.Ryan Daniels (7 Sport) was saying on Friday night that Chris Mayne had been mentioned as part of the deal for McCarthy?
As much as it would break my heart, if we get McCarthy, Mayney might be out of a Job

How do you rate each of their trade value? I think they are similar and the difference can be balanced with 2nd round picks.Neale has played 3 years of quality footy and is now in line for an AA.

How do you see the depth in our young midfield? Neale has been sensational, and no team would want to lose him, but he is one of the few midfielders we have who would appeal to them, along with Hill and Fyfe.
I was shot down for suggesting trading Barlow, I hate to see what is going to happen to you lot for putting Neale on the block!

Didn't answer my questions.....I still think we're light on quality to be frank...Bennel may ease that...but if I'm Lachie Neale I tell them to piss up a rope

I'll try another angle. Do you think Blakely will be afl standard?
When do you see him getting a game?
Given he is an inside mid, could he replace Neale?
Do you see any actually realistic trades involving a best 18 player who would be in GWS best 22 from next year?
I really don't think Barlow fits for them. And if he did it would be very short term. Barlow would be steak knives.Barlow.
Blakely yes.
Next year in place of Suban/DeBoer, not Neale
Not really . silly talk to speak of trading him IMO . You dont rip your heart out to save your feet. Neale and Fyfe are the nucleus of this clubs midfield for the next decade and Lachie has clearly proven himself as a big gamer. Of course we are going to have to give a lot to get MCCarthy back and we should do our best . SUbes, Zac C , Clancee , Mayne ,Silvagni , Weller draft picks we can still offer a fair bit without giving up the crown jewelsSilly talk really. I think you have a very unrealistic view of the trade value of those players, and for some them the likelihood of them getting games at GWS.Not really . silly talk to speak of trading him IMO . Perhaps, but they need ruckmen and Suban would walk in to their 1st 22 in my opinion. I must admit GWS obviously gonna play hardball . still to trade Neale would be crazyI think you have a very unrealistic view of the trade value of those players, and for some them the likelihood of them getting games at GWS.
So in that option the comparison is;Yes with our first pick...but my assessment of our quality is relevant.
We're not strong enough midfield to give away Neale. I still see our midfield as a weakness particularly with ball movement
