Played every game this year. Lock in best 22 :thumbsu:

Please, is everyone being sarcastic, Suban is one sided and one paced, has no evasive skills and tries to play footy like rugby, when he sees a pack he puts the ball under his arm and tries to run through it rather than sidestep, blind turn, etc. And he still hasn't learnt the rule about dragging the ball in when you are on the ground and getting pinged for holding the ball.

After the Sylvia debacle I doubt whether Freo will take a punt on Bennell. We have all heard the one about Leopards and spots. Just ask the Lions about Fev. Forget it. Go all out for McCarthy. Do not trade Neale under any circumstances unless you get a deal to good to refuse eg the Dees pick 6 plus Howe and something back to the Dees Paul Roos would look at it but would not happen!!!.
Go for a FA mid quality player - move Fyfe forward. Use this years first rounder plus say trade a fringe player (Clarke????) as starters for McCarthy. GWS can use later picks for points towards their academy picks.
But Bennell is no where near Fevola behaviour. Harley has done one or two things that a 20 year old does every weekend when out at nightclubs. It is something that can be turned around especially with Walters as well as Johnson. Plus I'm sure Bennell himself wants a second chance to show he's serious about being a footballer.
Jermey Howe? Haha we have many of the same types! Do not need another player who is a B grader at best and averages 15 disposals. Pick 6 and Howe for Neale aren't going to happen. Dees can keep their mediocrity

Second round for Clarke or an upgrade on a first and second pick.

Crozier just re-signed for 2 years
Plenty of options then. Trade Clarke for a second rounder giving ammunition towards a McCarthy trade and get Luey back home as a FA from the Lions for nothing.

Pick 6 and Howe will not happen but it would allow Freo to get McCarthy plus a third tall back who can play forward and keep their first rounder - 3 in one. Paul Roos is a big fan of Neale. Unless Bennell goes cheap I doubt whether Freo would risk it.

Freo are charging after Bennell.

Hey guys

Sorry for the intrusion

Would Freo consider Weller and 15/16 for pick 5 from the saints?

Would give you the kind of pick you might need to get McCarthy and would give us a player we are interested in and a pick that's about right for Carlisle should he nominate the saints.

No, you are essentially getting 2 first rounders for 1 good pick. Weller and our second I would think about.

Nope. Weller would go in the top 10 this year. Will be getting lots of games next year. If he requests a trade home, then it is a different story.

Your trade is much closer to the mark than most here have said. Weller is promising, but his first yaer was solid, without being outstanding. His kiicking was advertised as elite, but in the games I saw it was actually average.

Do you want to come over and play poker? Pretty please?

Not a popular option but could be only way to get a low enough pick to satisfy GWS. Weller to saints for pick 5 and maybe a player for McCarthy.

5 + a player for Cam. **** that, I'd rather keep the pick & draft a tall if that were the deal.

not entirely comfortable with mccarthy being touted as the great white hope
people are forgetting the whole 06 prelim chris tarrant affair?
or the port /paddy ryder situation
as much as we need a key fwd, mccarthy looks the goods whatever happens i hope we dont sell the farm for him

Tarrant never wanted to come here, same as Croad. They were basically pushed out.
Ryder is an interesting case. He's no forward and never will be. He's ok as part timer and that's it. Port's problems this year, as well as ours in the second half of the season, are that other teams worked them out.
This kid WANTS to play here, big difference

I've never really seen him play. Is everyone confident he can fill the role of the #1 forward? Playing on and beating the oppositions best defender? There's probably only a dozen or so guys in the AFL right now who I can think of to play this role. I'm pretty sure Cameron plays this role at GWS right now.

At the moment? No.
He may in a few years time.
He could however be a very good second tall, even Chris Mayne replacement at KP height. He's mobile, good hands and a nice kick.
He's not a power forward like Cameron, Patton or Hogan yet. He's still light bodied.

But he has talent. So it's a balance. I wouldn't be giving GWS two first rounds plus for him just yet.

Completely disagree that McCarthy isnt a power forward. Watched him play as the deepest forward (in a role close to a traditional full forward) for GWs at the start of the year with Cameron playing a roaming role. He played regulalrly on the oppositions second best key tall defenderand played bloody well in the first ten rounds. He only played as a third tall when Patton returned. He has extreme speed on the lead and can break open packs when he jumps for marks. What more do you want from a key forward?

IMO it makes a lot of sense to recruit Leanberger and play him and Sandy in a 50/50 forward/ruck role, so there can always be a get out long target in our forward fifty and then play McCarthy as our major leading target. From what I have seen McCarthy has an outstanding degree of explosiveness and Id love to see Bennell and Hill kicking lace out to him in season 2016.

That's the only way we'll get him though, maybe we'll do it next year.

McCarthy will make our forward 50 very mobile. Depending on if we pick up anyone else, it'll likely mean someone like griff or apeness will play and develop as the big KPP, but won't be the centre of attention by any stretch.

Balls coming in will be shared through McCarthy, tabs and the smell guys more often, hopefully making us less predictable

Having bennell on HFF will give us a great option also
