After an opinion from the outside...

Geelong coming off a hard fought win with 6 day break.
North coming off training drill with 7 day break.

Jack Ziebell returns to go head to head with tough nut Joel Selwood.

@ Etihad Stadium not Skilled for the first time in years...

Possible upset on the cards... (I hope!)

After the Geelong Collingwood slugfest last May 2011, both the Woods and Geelong had lucky escapes the next week.

Could be closer than some folk think. The effects of 6 day turnarounds and hardslog games count more in the early games when players are not match-hardened.

After my original post was conveniently deleted looks like I will have to change my tips to please those in Pyongyang so North by 8 goals - Harvey to actually perform against a top side, Ziebell to rake up 40 touches on 2012 debut, Aaron Edwards to kick 6. :)

And Boomer and Harps to snag a couple each.

Brisbane played last week coming off a 5 day break, Carlton players said they could see the fatigue in their Brisbane opponents early in the game.

As an impartial observer you'd have to say Geelong would win. But this is our best chance to beat them in a long time, largely because we're fairly healthy and will be putting pretty much our best 22 possible out there on Sunday. Plus the 6 day break for the Cats following their slugfest, and missing Scarlett.

My biggest concern is containing Hawkins and to a lesser extent JPod.

Its possible; its also possible I'll have sex with Scarlett Johannsen next week but its unlikely.

North will account themselves well, I am sure it wont be a thrashing. But in order to beat the Cats they will have to play all four good quarters, since any lax moments on their part and Geelong could tear them apart. And I dont see North doing that.

However, stranger things have happened. And who knows, this could be the beginning of Norths victory run.

Last time the tWo teams played there north won.... Geelong are all conquering due to what they've done in the last 5 years... Not just last round...

ur obsession with north stinks its a joke have you got nothing better to do than troll north weekly... its sad and pathetic

Geelong should win, they are last year's premier's and beat the much vaunted Hawks.

Normally I would put a line through a North vs Geelong game and look to who we play the week after but I dunno, first time in a long time we play them away from Kardinia Park and it is the closest we have been in terms of experience and age, Geelong is playing with a lot more kids than they have for ages.

If our kids stand up and play as well as the Geelong kids then I think we are in with a shot as the Cats don't have the 16+ players over 100 games playing any longer and I think our drafting has been as good as any club.

We will still have to play a cracking game, Geelong is one of the best modern teams and they still have a fair bit of experience in the side and most importantly they have recruited well so the players retiring are being replaced by good talent.

I know if we win you offended forum warriors are going to put it down to a short break and how taxing their win was on Monday, get in early with your excuses. :p

The only logical excuse for North getting over Geelong is that the teams got confused and swapped jumpers before the match instead of after.

Mate, we don't have to. You got in early for us :thumbsu:

Norths best chance in years to cause an upset.
I dont think we have enough arsenal or proven personnel to win, however if Geelong are going to be beaten its now.

From a North point of view.
Players will make a name for themselves this coming Sunday if they perform. It will sort out the cloggers from the guns.
Im speaking of our much maligned and our 2nd and 3rd year players. Anthony, Atley, Cunnington. Thomas, Hansen, Campbell.

All could rocket their careers into the right direction this week.

We lost to Essendon who are a team of similar ability so obviously a chance. I would be extremely disappointed to drop a match like this in round 3 though.

Anything is possible.

North are finally on the upswing as a unit and played well last week against the Sydney witches hats.

We played two hard games in a row with travel for one of them.

Scarlo, Wojo, Varcoe, and Menzel all out. Selwood got his head clocked, SJ has a corky and HT was a bit gimpy at the end.

Take all that into consideration,

We ARE Geelong.

We will not approach this game lightly. We will not look past it. North have speed and skill. We will play our best 22 and play to win.

Go Catters

North can maintain momentum enough to surprise the Cats as long as Lindsay Thomas isn't burning 5-10 golden opportunities and Swallow, Harvey, Petrie and Wells have decent games. Unfortunately Thomas will play and the team will play the usual spluttering, white flag football against a team capable of punishing a wasteful outfit. Carrying Hamish and possibly Hansen won't help the cause either.

Who knows. Geelong might of played their grand final last week end and they did lose to essendon last year. But if north can't compete with essendons midfield then how are they going to beat Geelong.
