Can we afford all of De Goey, Grundy, and Moore

No problems with signing them up as there’ll be a cull seasons end. We know who’s on the block , it’s a matter of if someone like Phillips wants to move on as to next move with the cash and what the AFL will do. I think our lower paid players will stay lower and the money going to the stars.

If Collingwood were smart, De Goey contract should be a modest base with heavily incentives on appearances and milestones.
Appearance milestones, goals kick milestones, B & F milestones.

De Goey gets his money if he performs on the field and doesn't get injured.

And Collingwood must include a clause for termination if he is convicted of assault. So we can walk away from him immediately and not have a Dayne Beams situation whereby he is still on our list but unable to play due to his legal issues.

Do we have a culture of out of contract players demanding max coin and not accepting a salary within a wage structure to give us the best possible chance of a flag?

Well all Players want that but we are Stupid Enough to give them that

So ahh, has Degoey actually signed a contract yet?
Obviously the club is waiting to see how much money is in available once trade week ends to be able to set something in stone.

The real question is can we afford Nick Daicos?

If we select him in 2021 we’re going to have to get him a new #35 jumper, new labelmaker on a locker to bear his name, and probably start formulating Gatorade to his liking. It all has to come from somewhere!

Guy would give him a Million Dollar a Year Contract for his 1st Season

So anyone who said Grundy was no1 priority and Grundy was worth every cent, for the next 7 years every time this club loses, and it will be a lot, remember back to that time you thought this and realise Brodie is the reason we are so shit.

So every time we lose, say thank you Brodie, you made us shit.

Well aware it's not his fault for being offered such a dumb, outlandish contract, but hope Brodie Grundy is enjoying this evening.

Yes, because Brodie is the only player in the AFL who is on $900k a year....

We are shit and in this mess because the idiots don't know how to manage a list.
One player on a big contract is not the reason, and is a simple way to look at it.

7 years, $7 million is why we are in this mess. If Grundy wasn’t signed until the end of the season he’d be lucky to get 750k and would be nowhere near a 7 year deal.

That contract signed in early January, with 10 months left to negotiate is why we just dumped 4 players for nothing. 2 of them are far more likely to actually win us a premiership than Grundy.

Said at the time, send him to Adelaide, then we’d have the no 1 pick and still keep Stevo and Treloar and we are in a far better position.

No, we are in this mess because we have signed guys like Beams, and then paid guys like Phillips $500-$600k, Stephenson re-signed on about the same, as a 21 year old....gave Mayne, Wells stupid contracts, gave Reid about 4 years too long, signed Langdon on about $650k (nobody knew he was not going to play again) etc.

Most clubs can afford a $900k player....did we choose the right player to be paid that amount? I am not sure.

But we are not in this mess because of Grundy, we are in it because of all the other stupid contracts and overpaying for some B grade players who probably should have been traded earlier, and keeping older guys for longer than we should have.

Ned Guy: We can afford all 3 easily if we sack all of our other players.

Pendlebury, Treloar, Moore, De Goey, Grundy.

All on big contracts, Grundy is the least influential of that entire group and is the highest paid.

Agree with Eddie on Grundys contract.

Horrendous contract. Said it at the time that 7 years is stupid for a ruck man and I will keep saying it. I'm sure I'll get a thumbs down from someone but I don't really give a sh*t.

The length of Grundys contract is not relavant to Collingwood trade situation It could have been a four year contract and the 2020 TPP wuld be identical. Whether 7 years is worth it is a consideration for 5 years down the track

I’d be surprised if all contracts didn’t include a termination clause for bringing the club into disrepute.
