All being said though, with my second opinion, the smaller field that is the SCG can work in our favour, Agree?:)

Yep. We have some very good long kicking players like Fletcher, Ryder, McPhee, Lucas, Lloyd and even Dyson if he plays that can be very effective on the small ground. Our lack of running at times also isn't so exposed.

We need to play like we did vs Adelaide and stop their run from defence and just hope that Mal and Fletch can beat Hall and Micky O.

I could really see Sheedy dropping a man back, and playing a 5 man forward line. How is Mal Michaels Track record against the Swans?

The only teams we've looked like losing to have been teams based in Melbourne. We're interstate specialists. If only they would move the grand final away from the G;)

Sydney are a pretty tough side and work for each other, we need to do the same thing.
We also need to be go long and direct with our delivery of the footy, as we will have a lot of pressure put on us when we have posession. We cant afford to muck around with too many handballs, as there isn't that sort of space at the SCG.

As we have already shown this year our best is as good as a top 4 team yet our worst is struggling with bottom 4 sides. When did we last win a game at the SCG? since 2000? From memory despite everyone saying the SCG will suit us even when we were still a finals side Sydney used to convincingly beat us up there. Only way we will win this is if we get our forwards enough space to work in and stick to a man on man instead of zoneing off loose men. We stuck to our guns last year at the dome and despite Hall kicking 7-8 against us we still won, if we focus on shutting him down we won't come close to a win as they can hurt us in so many more ways.

We've struggled abit againts the ultra defensive flood a bit this year. More often then not this has unravled the game plan and there is nothing left to replace it. Se Sydneys lockdown scrag style to hurt us this season.

on the whole, essendon's record up here against sydney is shithouse...........i know, i've been to most matches.

sitting amongst goodie-goodie sydney supporters in their red hats and who generally don't barrack, but rather just clap marks and goals, grates me too.

and to top it off this year, i'll be sitting in a bay where most people really won't be giving a toss about the match............auskickers and their parents.

I think thr last time we beat Sydney at the SCG was 2001 in the wet when Pev made his debut & played a blinder on Schwass - jees that sounds like a very long time ago - I think Hardwick kicked a goal for us that night....anyway - Barry Hall kills us all of the time & so does Ryan O'Keefe - we can't afford to hand ball much, just move it long & quick & have a few crumbers at the feet of Lloydy & Scott... can you remember the last crumbing goal we kicked & not from Hille last week?
I think it is very doubtful that we will beat them - our kicking for goal has been shocking & we were very lucky on Sat nite - they are just starting to hit their straps - if we lose by under 5 goals we will have done well - sorry for being negative!!!!

I hate it when the opposition supports are so negative about their chances against the Swans as that is the time when teams generally beat us. The Kangaroo's and St Kinda supporters wernt all that confident before their matches with the Swans and yet both teams apsolutely destroyed us. I love it when the Swans have the underdog status as that is the time when they usually play well.

How Sydney will play against Essendon has nothing to do with their supporters negativity or feelings towards the game & the possible outcome - Sydney will beat Essendon cos they have better skills, play better as a team, are more disciplined, are better coached, are in better form, kick straighter at goal

very slim chance!

not looking forward to the match to be honest................will be in bay 1 amongst a bunch of auskickers too!

10 goals.

Stay home then. Best to go with an open mind thinking we are in with a chance. You sound like it's over before it begins. Yes Sydney are favourite but give your own side a chance. Remember the Adelaide game. 'Anything can happen in football'
