Bishop Ronald Mulkearns 'sorry' for sex abuse in BallaratSeems you have answered your own question. Both are innocent. Either they both hold roles in RFC or they do not. The Pell matter is over. The ABC’s behaviour has basically ensured no alleged victim will ever come forward again. There is no way Vicpol or the DPP will pursue Pell without something that is air tight. Whatever credibility they and the Victorian judiciary have left would be evaporated otherwise.
Vicpol high command however is very different. They fought and lost FOI applications all the way to the high court over lawyer x revelations. The spotlight is only beginning to turn on them. NSW and QLD cops of the 80’s are watching thinking we were amateurs. As brazen as they were even they drew the line at using a defendant’s own lawyer as an informer and then lying about it.
This is only getting started and only more questions will be asked around Dunne and RFC.
