Seems you have answered your own question. Both are innocent. Either they both hold roles in RFC or they do not. The Pell matter is over. The ABC’s behaviour has basically ensured no alleged victim will ever come forward again. There is no way Vicpol or the DPP will pursue Pell without something that is air tight. Whatever credibility they and the Victorian judiciary have left would be evaporated otherwise.
Vicpol high command however is very different. They fought and lost FOI applications all the way to the high court over lawyer x revelations. The spotlight is only beginning to turn on them. NSW and QLD cops of the 80’s are watching thinking we were amateurs. As brazen as they were even they drew the line at using a defendant’s own lawyer as an informer and then lying about it.
This is only getting started and only more questions will be asked around Dunne and RFC.

According to the RC, Pell took his concerns to Mulkearns over Fascial (lived at the time with Ridsdale) about his behavior and it was dismissed and he was told it will be looked into, when it wasn't, Pell then went to Cardinal Little and it was also dismissed. Remember back then Pell was only junior in the system, Father Pell, with no power at all.

And how has the Catholic church viewed and treated Mulkearns?
He was disgraced in the church, he's not included in any official recognition of ex-bishops, and when he died left his wealth to the diocese, current bishop Paul Bird then distributed it amongst the abuse victims.

how do you account for the failings of Victoria Police when it’s high command and Dunne’s direct successor knowingly lied to a royal commission? That Dunne was in charge of ethics when Gobbo was recruited? Is it really credible that he did not know? Though going off Ashton the police minister and the premier’s testimony at the covid inquiry knowing nothing is standard practice across the Victorian Government.

It was mentioned in today's Senate estimates hearing.
Yesterday they said AUSTRAC traced the funds from Rome to Victoria and sent details of their findings to the federal police and VicPol.
Today they updated it saying the Federal police have passed it directly onto IBAC.

That's what Meteoric was alluding to. Its true, but i dont buy it in this situation.

I'm going by reports by the three largest Italian news outlets all reporting the same story at the same time that disgraced Cardinal Giovanni Becciu, a rival of Pell, is suspected of paying $1.1m to an Australian witness in the case.

Don't forget it was Pell as treasurer, who bought in Price Waterhouse Coopers for the first ever independent audit of Vatican finances, and also for the first time appointed an independent auditor general to oversee proceedings. When 110 million was discovered missing from Becciu's finances, Becciu emediatly dismissed PWC and the auditor general.

Becciu has more to hide and lose than Pell has.
Pell was found not guilty, more specific no credible case to answer by the high court of Australia, and remember, it was VicPol who "advertised" in newspapers for cases and witnesses against Pell and came up with 28 charges involving 8 complainants all of which never made it past the DPP and the ones to end up in court dismissed.

So let's just see how the investigation into Becciu goes. As I said, it's like a Dan Brown novel.
