So you think in 12 months all of a sudden we're going to be a strong position? After what's looking like another wooden spoon.

Ask Chris Judd. He said it

PS his comment was he believed in 12 months the midfield will be a strength NOT we are going to be in a strong position. Let’s stick to the facts

Judd also admitted that he didn't expect us to be last when we traded our first round selection with the crows and expected to have more wins than we currently have.

https://outline.com/b6zYB7 - Blues face month of truth - Jake Niall.

Niall is usually quiet level headed and this article shows that. Dont agree with everything he says but it is an outsiders perspective that often can shed some of our own biases.

Top article - must get 2 wins from the next four, no excuses. I’m starting to think in fact I’m certain that bolts is not the man for the job after this year but for his own sake two wins in the next month is the minimum. The shit show that was put up on the weekend is completely unacceptable.

He continues to play too many small bodies on ball when he has bigger more mature bodies elsewhere and we get mauled on the inside and the spread as a result. Didn’t see Ed Curnow and Gibbons on ball to stem the bleeding in the first qtr all I saw was Dow and SPS and Fisher continue to get belted by bigger more experienced bodies and then GWS control the game like a training drill. That’s on the coach and he continues to do it every few weeks.
It’s like he has a good performance in the previous week and he thinks that’s a pressure release and he can go back to his plan a especially in the midfield.
He’s a stubborn little bugger and for mine it’ll be the end of him.

The Carlton show picked up a lot of what I saw at the ground: Bolts picking teams for the future, completely ignoring the now. Cripps looked defeated and spent very little time on ball. Marchbank sagging way off his man and taking really poor positions. Players all over the ground let their opposing man run past and didn't bother to chase. Forwards didn't hold front position. Macreadie just wasn't ready. Ed Curnow's role just isn't working for him or the club.

Decent listening to Maher who was at the game and had a similar full picture view of the ground as myself.

So Bolton, assistants, MC, more concerned with the future, rather than the now?

Thank ****

The coach should've been in there.
In 2006, the Geelong football club did their end of season review, in which Bomber was not fired, but Leading Teams were brought in. Leading Teams - as you may know - have been revolutionary in an AFL context for their ability to build strong culture within teams, and to cultivate shared success, but a component of that is shared responsibility by the team - outside of the coaches, the staff, who are there to help but cannot do it for them - for their own destiny. There are a number of stories that ruminate about their playing group meetings - including some in which Matthew Scarlett was absolutely scathing about his teammates attitude and work ethic - and all of those meetings occurred extraneous to the coach.

This is the modern way of doing things, of leadership. If you don't like it, that is of course your prerogative, but please don't smear Bolton with it.

I don't disagree entirely, but didn't you also mention that GWS were happy they weren't playing us come the end of the year?
Yeah, though they might be factoring in the fact that the club will be playing more for wins come nearer the end of the season as well as cohesion picking up. I'm not sure, that's projection. Evidence presented thus far suggests we're a focussed a bit too much on the future. Would like to see the MC reign it in a bit. Especially in winnable games like against St Kilda.

Sure, 93 point drubbings are great for the future, builds lots of confidence and harmony. Why not 100 points next time.

Madness.

Of course we should be concerned about the now now, with an eye to the future, but not at at the complete expense of now. Bolts is just throwing kids into the lions den and seeing them be eaten alive and he does nothing about it, because time will solve all problems, let the kids figure it out, which they can't.

No side has ever lost big before. Might as well shut the doors
