Yes, we should field the best team we have to win each and every game this year.
Coaches should be busting a gut to win now.
What harm will it do to Walsh, Stocker, Weitering, McKay, Cunners to be part of winning teams?
They are all best 22 players, it is not as if they will be pushed out for some oldies.

Year 4 should have been when the winning starts. And maybe it still could be after the disaster of last weekend. Next month will reveal all. Hopefully we win them all.

I will keep taking you back. Go study the Lion's results in year 4 (2017).

None of those kids are broken

I bet you Jacob Weitering absolutely hates it.
I can see it on his face, game after game.
He hurts after each loss.
I feel sorry for him and many others.
His probably played in 10 - 12 wins and about 40+ losses.

A some point these guys will want to see return on investment, not punting good times down the 2021 "she'll be right road".

Weitering? The player that so many wanted traded mid last year for "anything we can get"?

Love that he is hurting, will only create greater strength in a future leader

Plenty of past Lions players did leave due to the constant losing (Yeo, Redden, Docherty). Players need hope. Losses like this weekend can be scarring, if repeated at the we produced in 2018.

As SkyhorseTamer eloquently stated, there is a balance in regards to "development vs win now".

Ummmm the fab 5 that left the Lions was end of 2013, it triggered their rebuild. The club overhauled every area, as we did in 2015

So again, Lions 2017

I would rather he be part of winning sides; rather than us build his character by constant demoralising losing.

How much character building has Joel Selwood experienced in his career?

I got to ask. What do you expect to gain from the incessant burbling?
I mean really. Serious question.

I have come to the conclusion that it just wants to incessantly rant. Not willing to listen to reason or any other opinions that don't suit its' agenda.

So Bolton, assistants, MC, more concerned with the future, rather than the now?

Thank ****

I agree, as long as you're not attempting to accelerate to what you see as the future so quickly that you actually sabotage it and prevent it from happening.

At work if I have a problem that's affecting a bunch of customers right now, and the best solution will take 6 months, I can't just ignore the customers and implement my ideal solution, because that's what will make them most happy down the track. Of course, by the time I deploy my solution that most satisfies the customers, I don't have any customers any more. Clearly I need to compromise a bit and think of how to best satisfy the now and future.

Extreme example and obviously not footy related but you know what I mean. I am concerned our balance here is a bit out.

You have clearly not been paying attention to anything the club has been saying for the last 4 years. You are all foot stamping and instant gratification. Shows your lack of insight. And that's all I am saying as I am sick of the repeated agenda and lack of awareness coming from you.

That's an assumption that suits your agenda. You have no real idea why any of them left.

and undoes it all with his constant ducking and cheating. The only respect he gets is from idiots and people who want to just win.

GWS won 11 games in their 4th year.
We have won 1 game thus far in our 4th year of rebuilding.

No sugar coating, no excuses. I am sure you'll trot out the same concessions argument as per usual.

We have the best player in the AFL now, GWS did not have that luxury then.

It is fair to compare.
No its not fair to compare ..Gws got every second pick in the draft & and a heap more in the following couple of years ..

I wish more people would use these types of analogies, when describing our situation

Without knowing the extent of your current issues, stakeholders want to be heard, acknowledged, then want answers and actions.

Communicate your best solution, roll it out and keep all stakeholders informed, the results will surprise you

Rebuild started end 2015.
We have had 2016, 2017, 2018 (20 losses) and 9 rounds of 2019 (8 losses).

I am onboard with the rebuild, always have been. I like what SOS has done. No changes there. None. I even support the Stocker pick swap with Adelaide.

All I am noting is that Bolts should be focussed on developing a winning culture now in the 4th year.
Win now, not develop now for 2021 at the complete expense of winning.
What was fielded on Sunday night was a team destined to be slaughtered. That does more harm than good.

If those thoughts offends you so be it.

Why does my opinion have to align with yours anyway? Arrow and I are debating in relative good nature. He is strong in his conviction and I appreciate that.

I totally agree that communication is the number one concern here. Without that you're screwed - but sometimes compromise and interim solutions are necessary. I'm not suggesting Carlton necessarily needs that here - but we need to walk the tightrope balancing-act between staying the course with our planned long-term goals and being fluid enough to adapt to changing current circumstances.

There are clearly some things that we could be doing better at the moment - the single example that I keep coming back to is how many mature senior bodies other teams use through the middle, yet we hide Ed Curnow in the forward line. Maybe the club had a plan around that, but in the now, it isn't working so be agile, be fluid, adapt and change it.

I don't think any team would have done well against GWS on Sunday. They were magnificent.
I am liking what the club is doing and what Cripps and Docherty have led in players meeting to stem the tide.
I'm not offended, I come here for discussion, not to hear the same things repeated ad nauseum. It's boring.
The sack the coach crew have no foresight. It's not that simple.

I agree that of all the teams in the AFL, GWS easily has the most potential to beat up on ordinary teams if they aren't switched on. I feel like with the loss to Hawthorn, the media spotlight on them, the game being at their home ground and the young team we were fielding, the only thing that was going to stop a blowout was us turning up with the same intensity as the Collingwood game. Unfortunately that didn't happen and the result was a perfect storm of sorts.

I don't disagree with your post, all I will say is all situations are different

I’ve never agreed with Mick on much but I agree with him on this. Need to be careful with how we manage him

Coaching great Mick Malthouse fears Carlton is at risk of burning out captain Patrick Cripps
