So Sam Walsh averaged 6 tackles a game in 2024 which was the 6th highest in the whole comp. Wasn't there someone on here that was telling us that he does no defensive work at all?

So even if every team used only 35 players for the season that would mean that there were 630 players that this stat was kept on. That puts Sam Walsh in the top 1% for the comp in tackles per game in 2024.

Something is just not adding up here?

Would anyone like to give an honest assessment on how they think these two are tracking? It’s obviously hard with Duffy but how much progress should we expect with Monahan? Should we see a considerable jump from him this year?
Monahan did not look very good at open training at la Trobe to be honest - fumbled constantly below the knees especially under pressure, and the one time he did get the ball with a bit of space he got run down from behind. Not sure how that compares to how he looked last year but honestly I felt he was one of the worst if not the worst at training then - albeit understanding that he's a Cat B and naturally pretty far off it

I've always felt Duffy looks more the type of gaelic footballer that translates well to AFL. He fits the mould. Not saying Monhahan wont make it but hes a bit of a different type. If I had to put money on one, itd be Duffy.

Has a bit of the John Tracy about him :D
Thunderbirds are go!

There is not much expectation for Lemmey on here. Ability is not the issue. Signs are good he will take the step and push for games in 2025.

I am one of quite a few who have called for him to be played behind the ball, however that is looking unlikely for the coming season. The club is backing him in as a forward and has stepped up, at least in pre season.

May actually be fighting with Hudson O’Keeffe for a forward/ruck spot in our best team in the medium future.

It's a great discussion. Injuries really killed us last year but I felt we were struggling before the injuries took over. IMO we never really got going or played anywhere near our potential during the entire season but we were still second with a few rounds to go.

Our talent is undeniable. Our list is as good as any. We need an injury free run and I feel we need some small adjustments to game plan and structure. I'd like Voss to be more adaptable and less structured during games and be prepared to do things a bit differently when needed. We need to be less focussed on Charlie/McKay going forward. I hope he trusts the younger players a bit more.

Just my take

If this happens we are right in it in 2025

100% agree with all of this.

Seen him training a lot against Weitering which should help him

Duffy at training looks solid. Some good afl traits and is a real athlete. Not noticable in match sim stuff but early for him

Monahan to me looks way off it. I know it was his first year but he wasn't even close to being VFL standard. Couldn't find the ball and was fumbly when he did.

An improvement this year would be becoming a good VFL player but IMO he is miles of AFL at this stage. I would play him behind the ball for a while

Maybe could try as a lockdown backpocket? He is tough with a good athletic profile. Im not sure he'll ever be a particularly good kick. Just doesnt look as natural for him as it has some of the good irish imports.
