I wanted it changed to say " who will finish higher in 2025" and your old mate Fadge wanted none of it.
Why can't it be "who finishes higher ?"
Because finishing higher means nothing as you just found out. It's "who is better" not "who gets to play Norf and Eagles twice".
Perhaps next year there should be a vote. At the end of the year let the fans decide who was best. Can't argue with democracy.

I think a few of you should learn how the ladder system works and that melt only lasted 6 days so it's one of the weakest melts I've seen.
Weakest melt was the mod who unilaterally decided the answer to the thread title, likely trembling while doing so due to the onslaught of Pies and neutral supporters making undeniable arguments to the contrary. Then hiding away in the shadows, too cowardly to reveal themselves. Classic Carlton supporter behaviour really.

Ah yes so Collingwood fans can vote for Collingwood and Carlton fans can vote for Carlton. Brilliant idea to allow bias to influence the result

Will be very keen to hear the expectations of Carlton supporters going into 2025 given the way the 2024 season played out...

Surely they can't be deluded enough to (again) think they will likely contend for a flag?

Surely...

"And with that, a mighty roar went up from the Magpie army. They had successfully avoided finals, because the finals were haunted. And then they all celebrated Carlton's loss with a nice cool glass of turnip juice..."

That's why the opinions of the neutrals are so important.

And the neutrals in the form of Mr Meow and RCAB have spoken!
Ah yes the neutrals how could I forget. Why are Pies fans so scared of just having an objective measure that they stick with all season? If you truly think Pies can contend for a premiership in 2025 and Carlton can't than surely the ladder would see Collingwood be ahead?

Can we agree on using the ladder from now and avoid the pages and pages of inconsistency in 25'?

We should start our own thread mate with rational, balanced debate only. :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy:

The 'objective measure' was 'better'.

The ladder would usually determine that, but on some occasions you just have to analyse a lite deeper when there is very little between the teams based on ladder positions.

But if you walk away from 2024 genuinely thinking Carlton are/have been better than Collingwood, then it just points to the level of delusion in play...

Alright so you don't want stick to an objective measure - looking forward to another 50 pages of pointless arguments in 25'.

And yes very delusional to think that a team that made finals had a better season than a team that didn't. Crazy stuff.

A couple of clubs are going to get reamed by the fixturing next year as the AFL tries to give Carlton as many double ups against bottom 4 sides as possible.

They thought they’d managed it this year by giving a team that made a prelim double ups against multiple bottom 4 sides, effectively a free hit at top 4 and a flag.

The AFL must be at a loss.

Who was better in 2024 - Port or Geelong?

Bulldogs or Hawthorn?
Hawks better than Dogs and Port/Cats remains to be seen. Once again I have always said if both teams make finals than it should be who progresses further. Something some Pies fans were not happy with.

Yep the AFL have done so much to help Carlton over the years...

We played finals Pies didn't, simple as that mate, you can do all the mental gymnastics that you want and it won't change a thing, if you could've beaten Essendon once it would've been different.
