Will be very keen to hear the expectations of Carlton supporters going into 2025 given the way the 2024 season played out...

Surely they can't be deluded enough to (again) think they will likely contend for a flag?

Surely...
Ssssh Fadge.
It's more fun if they believe they're a chance.
So... (Said loudly)
I think Carlton have the best spine in the comp and with the development of some youngsters plus a top up recruit or two they should be a genuine flag contender next year. Don't you agree Fadge? (Wink)

Not the first time Choccie has dropped like a sack of spuds after trying to initiate a biff. Unfortunately doesn't seem to be able to cop it even though he tries his best to dish it out.

It’s kind of a multi use gif. A visual demonstration of what Newman did to choc and of Carlton’s performance last night. Memories to last a lifetime.

Can we declare victory over Geelong by 10 or so goals ?
Head to head was 1-1.

Geelong finished 5 places higher, separated by far more than %.

Carlton had one extra game against an “easy beat” bottom 3 side.

Geelong won an away QF by 84 points. Carlton lost an away EF 60-0 before they ran the post-match kick to kick and family BBQ.

You can declare another Carlton victory if you like, but it would only add to the delusional stereotype which included “We will definitely prove we’re the better team in 2024…just you wait” after the round 7 loss.

In all seriousness, what did Carlton gain from last night?

Serious question.

In some years it’s like ‘players got to experience a final’ but the first half embarrassment did more harm than good.

We won the second half 58 to 27, so we are primed for Round 0/1.

what is the point of having a discussion/banter thread that rages for 12 months for 1000 pages just for one unknown BF mod to make a final decision based on their own opinion?
I know who it was: me!

You think Lions are going OK? Let's talk about drains in a week or 2 in another thread. Look forward to it

Hi Wormy, would you like to talk about drains now? Another season down the drain hey.

Carlton, gifted an easy draw, 2 games against both Richmond & North.
Carlton, gifted the game against Freo as a result of the worst umpiring decision in the history of the world.
Carlton, won 3 of their last 9 games - you guessed it, against the 3 bottom sides, 2 of which were double-up games.
Carlton, lost to Collingwood, the reigning Premiers, twice.
Carlton, embarrassed themselves on the big stage, again.

I genuinely hope the Club is as delusional as their supporters - #extendcrazyvossy

Thing is the Pies list looks like needing to enter a phase of regeneration, and if so will any fan care too much? Probably not. They have the 2023 premiership in the bag and generational 21yo to build the side around.

Carlton will need to hope that with Battle and Barrass that the Hawks don't wake from their 9 year slumber next year. If so, then their window will have slammed shut.

This coming season , the pies have at least 11 players over the age of 30 in their starting 23. Doubt that has happened with your previous 6 grand final teams.
Are you not a little cautious about that ?
It’s better to have 11 guys over 30 than 22 guys who don’t show up.

Yep, very hard to argue with this analysis.

They have been the unluckiest team in the comp for the last 3 years and it's a matter of when, not if, they salute for the ultimate prize.

They should really have two or three of the last three flags, and if they can just maintain their list despite the pressure from other clubs trying to secure their (June) premiership stars, and retain their coaching group, a dynasty surely awaits.

(Did I do that right?)

Why would we care about Battle and Barass? Blues have their own issues, dealing with KPD's is not really one of them
