And once again I haven't discredited any view - you can have your view that it's a draw. I don't agree and that's fine. Why I brought up the lack of neutrals in this thread is because some Pies fans were acting like those non-Carlton/Collingwood fans were the true arbiters in this debate. That is simply not the case when those supporters have shown consistent bias in their postings in this thread either way.

Then once again going down the victim route. I'm simply constructing an argument that opposes yours. Sometimes the simplest way to do so is to express the opposite view to my own in a sarcastic way and show silly it is.

Answer me one question: do you actually believe that neutral opinion is that Carlton were irrefutably a better side than Collingwood in 2024? In other words that neutrals share the same view as you (but are lying because of bias). The scary thing is you might believe that.

And I dispute this - if a poster only agreed with what Carlton fans thought then they themselves wouldn't be neutral as I said above.

This is known as arguing for the sake of it.

Consensus neutral opinion would dictate that Carlton have a better full forward than Collingwood do. That they had a higher number of players who had elite seasons. But not that Carlton were a better performed side in 2024.

Two are obvious statements. One is not.

yep, we were pretty ordinary at times this year, can't deny that.

In a season where you miss the finals as reigning premier, beating Carlton twice and then watching them embarrass themselves in the finals numbs the pain - as does the fact that next year, their endless drought turns the BIG three-oh!!

Collingwood aren't a full on rival like Hawthorn, but they have been a relevant and important competitor for flags the past 17 seasons. Of course I'm going to wish that a nobody team of the AFL era salutes before them.

The AFL era is more my lived experience, hence it would be irrational to dislike Carlton. They beat us in one grand final when I was very young, the year after we beat them in a prelim. Otherwise we have never really shared the top part of the ladder in my time as a supporter.

well, I was alive during that period. Whatever you think of us, Richmond or Hawthorn, you haven't experienced anything like a successful Carlton era. It is to be avoided at all costs. If you thought Kenny was a bad winner last night, ramp that up to 11 - from the President down.
