Froggy seemed mighty pleased with his game last week.

Didn't quite see it that way myself but you may as well let everyone know you were out there in case they didn't notice.

Not a wrap for playing Lyons at Marvel which is a hard surface and scores can rack up quickly with frantic momentum/pace thrusts.

I know we won't do it but with Weitering going to Daniher they don't have anyone else down there who's much chop in the air and if we played Fort deep we would really expose them provided the M/F is able to get it in quickly enough.

Seems a no brainer to me against their backline but as I say not expecting us to come up with it.
Lewis young is actually pretty good - especially now that he doesn’t have bevo putting him in the ruck.

Maybe Jack Gunston gets off the chain this week... time for his Lions breakout game.

Who will the Blues send to Charlie?

I believe it was Saad last time at The Gabba.
Kept Charlie to 11 disposals & 2 goals.
They can do that again if they want. Saad had 24 disposals 11 contested.

If so that's the first person Saad has quietened.

I wouldn't mind Saad going to him, Charlie has been putting on great pressure lately, he could shut down Saad's run.

We know Fages loves Answerth and once it was evident he'd struggle to get a game in the back half we quickly decided he could be a midfielder.

So expecting him to play this week.

I know it's the wrong spot but relevant to this game.

I have a general admission season ticket...does this guarantee me entry to the game. Also are the section, row and seat quoted next to the barcode relevant? I'm only asking because it should be a decent crowd, when the games against teams like saints or dogs at marvel, its a non issue. TIA.

Imagine having to stop all of Cameron, Daniher, Hipwood, Rayner, Gunston, Bailey & McCarthy.
Are they that good ?

Charlie's a champ obviously. Hipwood ? Gunston ??? Rayner ,yes on his day. I suppose Joe's in good form roaming up the ground. Bailey should be about to turn it around , I suppose he could worry them. McCarthy's a good honest tolier.

I'd play Fort myself in this game because the ball gets quickly to near the goal line at Marvel and having someone big there who can take a big grab has been a recipe for winning games there the last few years.

The reason i mentioned Carlton can do it again is if a forward can still kick 2 goals it is not much of shutdown (quietened).
Forwards are a little lucky in that they only need to be accurate with 2, 3, 4 kicks to influence a game score wise.

unconscious bias is rampant with club supporters of any team.

Here's hoping Gunston (if he plays) can string together a 4 quarter effort. Wish Rayner played more minutes in the guts... seems to be playing less there this year than any other since he's joined the club. get him there ffs.

When Fitzroy couldn't win a game I thought all our players were champs.

We keep pumping ourselves up about how good they are and this is the year we find out imo.

It's critical this year that we play as a team first and not worry about individuals.

What I really like is that 3 of the players we've added , Dunkley ,McKenna and Ashcroft are absolutely team first players and if we can get that ethic to spill over a little into our forward line we could be in business.

All of this goal of the year stuff is great but one goal is the same as any other goal to me and taking the gloss off individuals and how good they are keeps everyone focused on the end game.

You're Carlton. You put Weitering on Daniher and Saad on Cameron. You're then left with Young on Hipwood (more of an interceptor) and McGovern (also an interceptor) on Gunston. Kemp would have to play on Rayner but he will not outmark Cam or beat him at ground level. You'd then put a two gamer on Bailey.

Against Adelaide, the Crows key forwards had 14 shots on goal. Of their forwards, their lead up marking tall in Fogarty dominated.

What does this all mean?

Their backline - and most backlines - can't stop the number of avenues we have to goal when we get our offensive game going. There is just too much talent for the majority of teams to stop. The only way to beat us is to not let us get entries.

It's not just us fans almost every game the commentators gush over our forward line. It's like the old days you can't stop them all. At least two will get off the chain and cause havoc for the oppo backline

Not disagreeing Nunez.

Al I'm saying is once you start focusing on how good individuals are either on their own or en masse you tend keep looking for them to do great things without the basic things that win you games.

We're not that good that we can start talking about how unstoppable we are because our individuals stack up better against anyone else.

Surely we've seen enough to know they don't all bring it on the same day. Sometimes none of them.

It’s a forward line that is averaging 101 points per game so far this year, so they are obviously ok.

I remember my great friend Mighty Lions going on about our forward line and how you can't stop them.

Well the truth is they're not that good and you can stop them . They need to play team first footy.
