For the draft watchers. Do any of you feel like players from certain states get overlooked compared to others? Is there a bias to Vic players due to the AFL being based in Melbourne, or are generally the best players from Vic. I get the feeling players from WA don't seem to get as much love as they should and to a lesser extent SA, although they had a god showing last year.

WA won the state champs this year if I'm not mistaken, but only seem to have a few prospects in the first two rounds, with Twomey having the WA captain who was the champs best player outside the top 10. It reminds me of Oscar Allen, his U18 season was fantastic, as were his champs, yet he slid to pick 20 and i think he looks like a fantastic player.

In the past, Vic Metro would pick the best players, rather than the best side, meaning, they had midfielder even on the flanks, where normally sides like WA, it was more dedicated positions

Generally Vic Metro & Country will always make up the bulk, due to volume, although, the better WA & SA kids move through the ranks playing reserves/seniors after the carnival

Do you think there's any merit that kids from those teams slide due to a Vic centred approach?

Maybe in years gone by, not now

Agree with you on Allen, but during the carnival he was around 191/192, so rated him a late 1st, when I found out both his dad and brothers were all over 194, I re-rated him at 13

Hey everyone, I was listening to Cal Twomey and Nat Edward's Road to the Draft podcast, and a question came in asking if Carlton took pick 8 to the draft, who might we take? Cal said it was a big if, but we might be looking at:

- Sam Flanders

- Lachie Ash

- Brodie Kemp

- Dylan Stephens

- Deven Robertson

Thoughts?

Thoughts?

Sam Flanders - Big bodied midfielder that also looks fine in the forward line. There are probably questions on his upside with regards to his size at junior level. (Could be Membrey Clone or maybe Wines?)

Kemp - Looks very flexible as also a big bodied midfield that can move forward or back. Knee injury is a concern, so risky. (Cripps light)

Stephens - One of the better outside running midfielders, think Gaff.

Robertson - Contested ball winning beast, that has a few kicking question marks but other than that is very good. (Matt Crouch?)

Ash - A running defender that has line breaking speed and great kicking ability, hopefully can transition into the midfielder, but at worst is a dynamic running defender. (Think Maybe Jetta style?)

Funnily enough, I've seen Ash compared to our very own Kade Simpson, so I wouldn't mind him as a succession plan to get SPS back into the mids one day.

He might be closer to a combination of Saad (speed wise) and Docherty for game style. Probably not as quick as Saad, but he certainly likes to use his speed off the backhalf and takes the game on.

Do you think he is in the same class as Jordan Clark who I really liked last year and who reminded me a lot of Docherty, if so I would love to get him to Carlton.

That would not be a terrible comparison, I feel they're slightly different. Ash is a little more aggressive with his running out of defense. I have a feeling that Clark was a touch better defensively one on one. They both have the ability to run in the midfield as well, I feel that long term I underrated Clark even though he was a WA prospect. Clark is looking amazing so far.

What are supporters feelings towards Cameron Wild? NGA attached and looks like he is a little beast in the midfield. Could this be the guy to pair with Crippa & Walsh?

I presume Mal Rosas Jnr is now out of the market and a GC player. GC don't even have to bid on him. They just take him for free as an Academy player.

I like Rosas as a prospect. High risk, high reward. GC now get to grab the potential high reward with no risk. Hope he does well.

BTW, i have no problem with the GC package. It was a no brainer and pretty much exactly as i expected. Only thing that surprised me was the extra Pick 19 this year.
