Lol @ the 'trolls'

It's fairly obvious that Casey is the one being bullied. If he was the bully, he probably wouldn't have stopped when he did. Also, from my experience, bullies travel in packs, Ritchard had his mates there, Casey didn't.

Also, Ritchard probably is a 'feral' bogan. His facebook picture is of him posing with the Austrailan flag, and looking at his actions in the video, everything points to future dole leecher.

(John Dalgleish, head of research at Kids Helpline and Boys Town)

"We don't believe that violence is ever the answer," Mr Dalgleish says. "We believe there are other ways that children can manage this."

"The longer term way is about developing better relationships between kids in the school, that will then empower young people to not be passive bystanders when these acts occur but to stand up and say 'this is wrong'," Mr Dalgleish says.
"The short term solution is to have individual counselling with each of the children."

Oh I see, whilst getting punched in the face Casey was supposed to call time-out and get the counsellor to counsel the bully, well done shit for brains.

Violence is NEVER the answer Casey you naughty boy!

i would say about 5 guys in my experience (which is based on only 6 years out of hs) from a smallish school, and have oft heard similar stories from others.

i prob would agree with "more often than not ***** in hs remain ***** years after hs" but not "generally" or "overwhelming majority".

not hard tbh. :D

i got no sympathy for the kid getting bodyslammed. i just think it's hilarious that you genuinely believe you are able to predict how this 15 or something y.o.'s life will unfold based on 30sec of footage. :D

All fair points suspense, but this kid goes beyond the typical high school w***er in my opinion. It is this breed, or degree, of w***er that I'm talking about. He just typifies that typical feral from the lowest class of Australian society. The look of his face just touches a nerve of personal disgust. Yes, the fact that I dislike this breed so much makes my view on him cynical, but given my experience with people from the hood (you know what i'm sayin?) which this guy reflects, I maintain my view on him because of what I imagine his parents to be like (unlike other w***ers who for example may have been argumentative in high school and then chilled out soon afterwards - I know a number of these people who I'm sure are similar to the ones you know of too).

Well said Mr. Dalgleish, but I guess Casey just pushed Ritchard too far in this situation. Casey's response certainly wasn't acceptable though.

casy desrves young australien of the year imo symblises the great ozzy spirit of mateship

Also the great Australian tradition of pummeling the everloving **** out of dead shits.

Some of the things which go on in high school are truly awful.

I remember the one fat kid who everyone, and i mean everyone, used to pick on in yr 10, i was low enough in the pecking order to feel like I needed to be in the group laughing whilst the two or three genuine sadists who would get stuck into him constantly.

Thinking back, it must have been 24/7 for the poor bugger- would start with people catching up with him on the way to school, stealing his bag and throwing it onto house roofs, then we would piss ourselves laughing when he got busted for getting to school late, then people would be flicking shit at him all through class and trying to stab him with pencils and compasses, then beat him up at lunch, then again on the way home. Not for any good reason, was just how it was. Almost afraid to know what he is doing now, because it must have ruined 5 or 6 years of his life.

I feel sick thinking about it now, and horribly guilty that i never had the balls to step in and say something- everyone who used to laugh about that sort of thing deserved precisely the same treatment ratface got.

If I ever had kids, the day before high school, I would sit them down, make them watch this video from start to finish, and promise them they will get precisely what ratface gets on the video if I ever heard a whisper that they were picking on someone. Not sure how that fits in with child safety laws.

Sorry but it's attitudes like this that allow the bullying to go on.
Most bullies aren't traditionally committed to their schooling so expulsion, suspension or detention will do absolutely nothing.

Riiight, because I dont want to see some kids head slammed into cement im condoning bullying?

Geez, some common sense... Im not condoning bullying, im just less than impressed by some kid ramming another kids head into the ground "slammer-style".

Back when I was in highschool I remember an incident where a fairly large kid was constantly called radius for the shape of his head. He ended up grabbing a butchers knife from home economics and threatened to harm a whole bunch of other students. If revenge at any expense becomes acceptable its like that saying... an eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind. I mean im all for giving it to the bully, but his actions are excessive considering.

How can his reaction be excessive if, as we assume, he has been the victim of regular bullying and then snaps ? The fact that rat boy ended up headfirst into the concrete is just bad luck. Personally (if skinny is 15 or older) i would have liked to see the boot laid in good and proper, and then the cheersquad behind the mobile phone get stomped too. But i'll settle for the one epic pile driver.

It is not a question of revenge, it is simply a question of someone pushed way beyond ordinary limits of tolerance - and hopefully teaching one of the perpetrators a useful life lesson in the process. As has been said, the best evidence that Casey wasn't at all vindictive or a nasty person is that he could have utterly destroyed that kid once he had him on the ground if he wanted to.

Whenever someone in that situation snaps, there is usually a litany of complete and ongoing failures on the part of the school to recognise the way they have been treated and properly deal with it in the lead up to them snapping. Rather than admit that they are incompetent and have let the victim of bullying down by letting it go on for so long, it is far easier for a principal to react by saying "we won't tolerate violence" and suspending the victim.

That makes sense, you were a coward who tolerated bullying when you were a kid so make your own children suffer for your guilt.

You haven't really learnt much have you?

I actually agree with most of this, especially the ongoing failures on the part of the school, however this is based on assumptions.

As for teaching the perpetrator a lesson, all it teaches him is to go pick on smaller kids instead or someone who cant fight back, and; going by the response of the general public (this thread), it's okay for Casey to solve things via violence.

If people on this thread are honest, and can think back and say hand on heart that every time they saw someone getting picked on at their school they stood up for them, they never laughed at someone lower in the pecking order than them getting teased or done over in some way, then good luck to you, but I suspect if they are honest with themselves that's not entirely true. Certainly wasn't for me, I was an absolute pussy in high school.

The truth is, in most schools there are few genuinely sadistic individuals and a few obvious targets, and then a lot of wusses and yes men who act as an audience, let it happen because they don't want to make themselves a target, want to go along with the crowd, lack the empathy to know when something downright nasty rather than funny, or don't have the moral fibre to do anything about it.

I took great pleasure in watching kids get bullied, I genuinely found it hilarious. A lot of kids from like 12-16 won't feel empathy for strangers. That's why teachers & outcasts get some much shit, it's like they're not human in the same way you & your friends are & bullying them is somehow justified for lols.

Good on the kid for what he did - wish it hurt more than it did. Bullies should be able to retaliate considering schools these days do bugger all.

It's more the attitude of people who just say "did he have to hurt the kid" that annoys me, so i'm sorry if I took your post out of context.

The mental scars that the bullied kid will probably have to deal with for many years will far outweigh any physical pain the little rat will endure for a few days/weeks.

And Casey didn't throw him head first. He easily could have and probably done much more damage, but he didn't. If Casey was as cruel as the little rat, then he may have killed him.
