It's not so much a protest against quarantine, was more that due to recent lockdowm in metro Melb, players decided to train through bye weekend and was going to take four days off after Cats game with 9 day break I to game against you guys.
If we have to fly tomorrow, they won't get their four-day break at all. So sending some B players would be essentially to give our main group the break and mental freshen up in lieu of the bye break as such.

Hey if you guys wanna throw the match to freshen up the star players/ stick it to the AFL/ whatever then we're aaaaallllll for it.

Stepping back we need to acknowledge langdon had a good game.

And dropping him would be unlucky.

Langdons offers gut running, tackles, heart, and trying hard all game. Jones and petch don't quite match him in that respect. I do respect langdon hard work.

If langdon gets 15 possession a game and lots of tackles he can't be dropped. You can build a team around hard working players.

In saying that I'm going to change my selection

Sheppard in for Foley
Kelly in for Jones (no longer langdon)
Shuey in for Nelson/Cole/Rotham
I thought his game was alright as well. That's probably his two best games for the club in the past two weeks.

He covers a lot a metres and obviously that's what the club has asked him to do. I'd like to see a few more tackles and a bit more pressure, but he is doing more than many. To be honest I see him as playing the same team role as Cripps; and currently doing it better.

Wouldnt be the worst game to throw if it improved your odds in other games and for the rest of the season. Tough away game in Perth. In contrast though, if you come over and win it you could set your season up big time, whilst also snuffing out any danger we might pose.

If you could get on the phone to Bevo and let him know that tanking this game is the better option that’d also be just fine haha

Following the WAFL game

In: Shuey, McGovern, Shep
Out: Jones, Hedwards, Nelson (all unlucky)

Backs: Barrass, Gov, Rotham, Shep, Hurn, Cole, Foley
Mids: Sheed, Redden, Gaff, Duggan, Yeo, Ledwards
Rucks: Naitanui, Allen
Forwards: Kennedy, Darling, Waterman, Ryan, Cripps, Langdon, Shuey
Sub: Nelson or Jones
Emergencies: Jones or Nelson, Hedwards, Ah Chee

Give Kelly an extra week, we can’t bring in too many underdone guys at the same time.

Shuey replaces Jones and job-shares mid rotations with Yeo and Ledwards. I’d prefer Jones to Langdon but I think the match committee will go the other way, especially since we’ll need Langdon’s tank.

Allen to ruck again, unfortunately.

Backline looks top heavy but I don’t know who else comes out for Shep. Rotham is playing too well.

I would keep Jones. Would remove Langdon or Waterman. I love the in and under pressure he brings. Watching the Richmond game a few times, Jones was involved in so many of our pressure acts.

Eagles 15:1 for GF win! Noice odds now before another game? Anyone confident?

Re Ledwards watched that vision of Oscar+Brayshaw talking him up, big raps!
Hamish is very articulate and mature, no wonder he's captain, definitely leadership material.
So is his future stuck in the Wafl? Doesn't translate too well to AFL?
Recall seeing him play once, nothing to flash?
Been chipping away at it daily, think we have only one month with those odds.

its either the roll he is playing doesn’t maximise his disposals and he needs to be put around stoppages more or he needs to pick up his socks and stay consistent.

He has that no mans land HF position for the eagles. Ask Venables about that position. I think the main job is to defensively guard space. And HF's dont rack up disposals usually.

After watching the WAFL game yesterday, Witherden just looks too good to leave out of the team. I would have him ahead of Foley, Nelson, Cole and even Rotham (who has been showing some frailty the past few games).
Do we know if Shep will be available or is he still only a maybe? Wouldnt hurt to make sure he is 100% before rushing him into the team, his body has taken a fair hammering this season. Very tempting to have both Witherden and Foley playing alongside Hurn- there is some serious line breaking talent in those 3 although it is conceeding some defensive accountability.

Shep is a definite in. He was only out due to concussion protocol

Thats right, I had it in my head that he had a groin strain- that was Witho.
In that case I would have Cole out for Shep (Nelson stays in by viture of his ability to tag and he did a good job on Bont last time)and Foley out for Witho. I really loved Foleys game last week and want to see him retain his spot but I think Witho is just better. I dont think Rotham will be dropped but he will want to improve his form.
Gov for HEdwards- again deperately unlucky but Gov is better.
Shuey for Waterman/Langdon/Jones. I suspect Jones will be the unlucky one based on similar decisions this season.

What do you mean 'chipping away at it" ?
The odds preseason 2018 were 17:1 ..shoulda, coulda, woulda, didn't!
The Bulldogs game will tell us a lot I reckon...
For NN, Shep+Gaff, this is their last or best window you'd think?

We will only lose Hurn next yeaar (maybe). The premiership window is still open for a few years yet for those guys.

It's a hard one to predict, our quality of depth is building re: keeping the window open. NN is 31 with two serious knee injuries, his window could shatter at any time? Gaff 29+Shep 30, it's only going to get tougher, look at Shuey 31..

Some people might say dropping six players from the team that just recorded one of the most stirring wins in club history is just a few too many changes.

I say those people are cowards.

Hutch certainly missed the boat with the timing of his injury. May have been a regular now and his spot safe.
Yep and Hutchings is a long way back from the injury now with a month of WAFL under his belt and form that has built well. I know. Has limitations. But is he up for Bont this week, over Nelson?

Hutch has fallen back a long way I reckon from the inclusions. We will have players like Reddon available to tag if we need.

Sorry it’s ended up like this, the Bulldogs are an awesome footy team, and it would have been great to see the 2 teams go head to head with no impediments to performance.
Covid sucks balls!
