Early days but jeez this would be a great result for the eagles.

Makes little difference - both clubs already are and will continue to be positioned lower than us on the ladder.

Unless we stuff things up and finish 6th, Richmond are not worth worrying about anymore.

I won't deny however that the result so far is giving me the joy of schadenfreude.

It will make a difference if Richmond miss the 8.

Happy with the selections. Jones is still young and is inconsistent. I thought he was quite average the last two games, while still showing some great signs. Loving Petch this year but my only concern is that he’s coming off an injury and that’s quite a few injured players coming back.

Waterman to play Langdons defensive winger/cover position and unlike Langdon will take advantage when he is the marking outnumber in the forward line.

A lot of unlucky players after an excellent win, building some handy depth across the ground.

Very excited to see our gun midfield line up together. Although I’m in favour of keeping Redden as a frequent centre square rotation, has good hands, strong in the contest, plenty of mongrel. Sheed less so, mostly because I think he’s more damaging in space.

Pumped.

Hopefully we've not brought back too many underdone players as Yeo is also still on limited minutes. I guess on paper it isn't too bad as Kelly has only missed 2 matches and Sheppard/Petch have only missed 1. Shuey is Shuey and Gov is fat anyway.

Will need lots of run late to beat the Doggies I suspect.

Also I'm heading to my first Eagles game since the 2019 Essendon final :moustache: .

Too Tall, may be but rotation will ease that. NN rests OA in ruck and Waterman 3rd tall. Waterman as back up DEF tall in case someone go down. Nelson mostly emergency for that reason(can play tag in MID).

Surely Yeo won't be on managed minute's anymore.

Goddamn, how potent does that final 22 look on paper!?
Finally, we've got close to our A-team on the deck.

Is that the true reflection of Richmond of late?

Does that change the perspective of our win over them? Make it look less impressive?

Is this the resurrection of St Kilda into a top level team? Or just another false dawn in a long and ignominious history of hope followed by glorious failure upon glorious failure?

Nah we showed the competition how to beat them. And Richmonds not so cocky anymore after we worked them over.
They have also tried to copy our gameplan against us and the Saints. They cant do it though.

Anything Nelson does Redden can do better imo. Has Nelson really even proved himself as a tagger yet?
Nelson has done some great shut down roles but hasn't been used for ages until he ran with Dusty before the bye. Didn't go great but he's not the first bloke to be set a task on Dusty and not look great at it.

Yeah I'm not sure why his name keeps coming up when we have Redden already in the team. Our starting midfield is too stacked to be carrying multiple defensive mids. Not that Redden is purely defensive but he can definitely do the job if required.

Cockchin only seems to care about his dog act numbers lately. Total grub.

Aging players do tend to wade into grubby act territory in the twilight years. Probably out of frustration at being half a step off the pace and turning into a witches hat. Selwood's been doing it, and when Matthew Pavlich was in his last year or two me and my Freo supporting mates used to call him No ****s Pav because he had completely given up on going for the ball first and was just trying to hurt and snipe players to get team ascendancy.

My concern is that we have reverted to the same unbalanced team of earlier in the year by picking Waterman and Petch instead of Jones and Langdon. We seem to be trying to find positions for players rather than picking the most balanced team. Waterman and Petch are better players than Jones and Langdon but the latter two are blue collar type players who do a lot of running, harassing, pressuring etc. Jones is not bad at snagging a goal when he gets the chance. The team have looked more potent when it has more midfield runners even if some of them aren’t high possession players. This is particularly a concern with Shuey, Kelly and Yeo returning from injury, they won’t be running hard for the whole game. Petch is improving as a player but I don’t think he is effective as an on-baller, he is more of a wingman. Oh well, let’s hope for the best, I hope the midfield can keep running because they will need to against the Bullies. Also hope for no injury re-occurrence to a major player.

On paper that is almost our full strength side. Brought up the whole list and only Willie is an automatic in and then Brander instead of Waterman. Witherden and then no-one else ranked higher than what we have playing.

Dogs are limping atm. Beward the injured dog.

Im hoping we come out hungry and angry. None of the waiting for others to do the hard stuff. Pray Shuey gets through. This team should win. But so should have Richmond.;)

Yep. Lloyd and Goodes also spring to mind. Probably would have been the case with a few Hawks recently too except they were also dirty when they were at their best.

Ironically enough Barry Hall actually retired rather graciously
