If Charlie had both arms pinned - different story. It was a low impact tackle and Lever had an arm free.

Free kick, yes. A week? * off.
The AFL wouldn't be doing this for extra early week media content?
Incident seemed no different to others in the last few weeks that didn't get a suspension.

Seems curious the impact was graded as medium compared to Vlaustin's which was graded as low. Lever bounced straight back up! It's also unclear if his head even hit the ground in any significant fashion with Lever appearing to but some mayo on it.

Can't work it out - Vlaustins looks similar - he also got a fine.

That's the big question - how is that graded at medium? The moment you tackle like that you're buying a MRP lotto ticket, but medium impact is a real head-bumper.

I think there's some doubt as to whether he hit his head with any force to even notice. Used the momentum to bounce straight up. So Charlie gets rubbed out for what potentially could've happened.

If it was Collingwood or Carlton there'd be an outcry over SM , the usual talking heads would be saying the game's being wrecked.

We're an easy target. Have to appeal but who knows the outcome.

I need to get over Cripps and Maynard knocking people out with illegal actions and getting off scot free but they make it hard

Lever doesn’t even show any discomfort and is remonstrating for a free before the tackle is completed, contributing to the whiplash look.

Worth challenging.

Agreed - have the Lions ever won an appeal to the Tribunal?

Like to see Answerth hold his spot for another game. Give McKenna another week.
His in your face tackling is just what we need. Reckon disposal is better than what it has been , although probably a couple of bad or poor kicks last night, could maybe improve with more of a run.
What do we need the most , a genuine tackler or more run from McKenna?
Tough decision.

I Answerth probably plays up the field a bit more with McKenna back. Been good.

I have no idea how the tribunal works anymore but we don’t run the risk of an extra week by challenging do we? Can’t afford to have him missing Giants game also.

One week for Charlie.

Outrageous.

Toby's sling last week at least as bad, Mack Andrew reacts angrily but doesn't even get a free. Perversely, the umpire them comes in to give Greene a free kick for Andrew pushing him over

MRO: "Nothing to see here, no comment"

Lever doesn't react all and seems content with the free kick. It's highly dubious whether there was any contact between head and ground at all.

MRO: "bad Charlie, BAD!!!!......one week for you"

Christian just makes this shit up to suit

Totally corrupt:mad::thumbsdown:

What do we do with Oscar?
It's bizarre isn't it. First bounce of the game Oscar charges in, full bore, jumps wins the ball and forward we go. For the rest of the game he waddles in, Gawn sticks his arm out and taps with the other........FFS Oscar do what worked the first time!!!! barge into the campaigner and jump at him.....get active, not passive.....you lost 7000 center bounces being passive and you won one being aggressive.

c'mon!!!!!!!

The greatest challenge of all time was J Brown in 2004. Mauled a saints bloke in the QF. Got charged with rough play after the qt siren. The lions challenged, said nothing in the lead up, then once the hearing started our advocate said how can it be rough play when there was no play going on? Got off. Brilliant! Reminds me
Of the old foul language charge a couple
Of blues players got around but i won’t bore everyone with that!

Oscar - i don't watch the 2s. i think if a ruckman is knocking down the door they deserve a chance. Time to see if they can improve us. Oscar seems to be struggling holding the main mantle this year. He has always been more workhorse than star. It's pretty simple - if we think one of our understudies could give us an improvement, we should try it. If not - back Oscar in. I do think we need to seriously consider 2 rucks for certain teams / comboes, ie vs Gawn, or Darcy / Jackson, perhaps Witts. We seem to struggle with these in particular. Yes we go a bit taller but we can rotate the bigger blokes on the bench, drop Gardiner for the second ruck, and have a runner as sub to take a ruck off in the third.
I actually wouldn't mind seeing Henry Smith get a run in the seniors, but it isn't going to happen anytime soon. Probably only happens in a low stakes game where two rucks would be an advantage.

Maynard finishes a guys career and gets off..
Bloody Vic bias

Answerths pressure has been excellent. He must be retained on that basis. Our increased pressure has been at the core of our form turnaround. I think Mckenna needs a run in the 2s to test his leg and refine his skills. Answerth does need to improve his decision making. He kicked long to Lever a couple of times but he more than made up for it with his in your face defence.

The tribunal is an independent panel and the AFL argued for his suspension. They immediately change the rules in the off-season so that future incidents like that would be see a suspension.
unless your a Pies or Blues player.. Then they hire a good lawyer and get off.

McKenna is a much better player than Noah, but actually agree with this assessment. His intent and defensive pressure was fantastic and McKenna has had such an interrupted start to the year. Let him build match fitness and form in the VFL for the time being.
