Results this round have gone our way with regard to making the eight ( with one notable exception) but for me the year is gone so I am hoping to a lot more of Bedendo, Cleary, Garcia and Sweet in the ones. We really need to get something out of this year.

Fat chance we’ll be seeing many changes with those playing for Footscray coming off a 5 day break.

In: Smith, Cordy
Out: Scott (inj), Hannan

Reckon they'll fous on starting games well and tightening defence all week, and hope they bring the hunger which was zero in that garbage at SCG. We're lucky how other games have panned out that a win here gets us back in contention.

Bevo seemed to acknowledge that we need to look to the future.

Think we’ll see more positional changes being experimented with and more games into the younger guys as we look towards next year.

Agree with anyone suggesting Sweet must play. I'm baffled he wasn't selected to play on Friday. Even if he's subbed for the last quarter, it's too much of an ask for Timmy to ruck the entire game with a chop out from whoever.

IMO, it would allow, and Timmy should be given licence, to roam from attack to defence with little actual ruck time whist Sweet is there. He can mark fwd and back and on the wings and has the skills of a better than average midfielder.

Cleary has to play IMO with Williams moved back up the ground. Bont to the left wing.

Our tactic should be to turn the stoppages into a meat grinder, especially CBs where the goal is to force a secondary stoppage to mitigate the opposition exposing our defence one on one even if that compromises our own 6-6-6 attacking prospects. Yes a negative tactic but could be a winning one. And we need to stock the stoppage set up with quick handed grinders of meat (Libba, Macrae, West and Sweet (not so quick but....)) who have the will and want to bash the opposition into submission
