Like the inclusions of A.Pearce & Langdon, disappointed with the dropping of Tabs...is he ever going to get a solid run at it??

Absolute bulls***. Meima likes to throw a whole heap of crap at the wall in the hope some of it sticks.

Let's pencil in our delistings for end of 2017 at the start of 2016. :drunk:
Chills mate, rumours in 1st April Beetz.:p

I realise that, my comment still factual because I know how much you like facts.
Yah yah yah his go again with his fact as a mature father figure trying to teached meima facts in a public forum.

I like the changes, but the omission of Taberner is a poor one. Can't just back the kid in for one game, especially as he is such a confidence player, poor decision, hes suppose to be our future forward and help allow Pavlich to be rested this year. If he really wanted to make a statement, he should of dropped one of Mayne/Ballas/Barlow or even C. Pearce. Everything else, I'm happy with.

Tabs is very very close to having his papers stamped.

he has played 29 games and I can think of MAYBE one game where he was above poor. You can't keep playing a bloke who doesn't perform. it sends a bad message to the rest of the team.

That's what's most frustrating. I assume you are referring to the Brissy game a year or two ago.. We're we all thought 'wow, here he is'.. but then proceeded to stall. No doubt his potential is there, it's just not seen often enough.

last season he played 15(!) games and averaged 8 disposals and less than a goal a game. If he was 10 cm shorter he'd have been delisted by now. And its not like he is tearing it up in the WAFL.

Delist.

I can't believe there is still some criticism about the selections this week. Playing 1 ruck and using others to pinch hit is a really smart move. It means we get extra run and then just need our elite midfielders to shark the opposition ruck's taps when Sandi is resting. All the teams on the improve seem to be doing it, so why not us? Some smaller rucks weren't even contesting last week, choosing to rove the tap instead.

Dropping Tabs I think was necessary as well. I don't think it will destroy his confidence. If we are going to play a tall forward they need to take contested marks and marks inside 50, as everything else the smaller, faster, more skillful guys can do (better). I also can't see how you could add in A.Pearce without dropping Tabs. Tabs could become a serviceable forward for us, but Alex has the potential to be a star KPP.

Sandi and Johnson imo are two of our three biggest game impactors. So not underestimating how much of a difference their inclusion will mean this week, although we ideally need Fyfe back to his usual dominant self as well.

This is pretty close to our ideal line-up I think. Just need to add in Bennell and Morabito (assuming all the hype from training reports is accurate). I'd possibly like to see Yarran pushing for selection at some point as well but he seems a fair way off atm.

If Zac Smith (16 hitouts) is a forward ive never seen (or played as) a ruckman in my life, he averages 19.6 hitouts per game over his career.

GWS had Mumford and Lobb
Bombers had Luey and McKernan
Hawks had McEvoy and Pittonet

Collingwood made Cloke ruck because the useless prick had 0 possessions at half time. They are trying Corey Gault forward/ruck (much like Zac Clarke) but if he fails will go back to the Witts and Grundy combo.

9 teams, not so much "most" teams as i previously stated, but North have Ben Brown and Richmond have Vickery and Griffith who are at least, as good as Zac Clarke in the ruck.

Winning the tap may not be important to other teams but go and have a look at the weekends game to see how important it is to The Fremantle Dockers.

I Agree with Smith, didn't realise he had 16 hitouts on the weekend, he seems like a Petrie type player, I'll take that one on the chin;)

Lobb didn't register a hitout, i don't know if he contested the ruck at all, but he seemed instrumental as a forward that can backup should Mumford break down...

McKernan just isnt AFL standard, he is a forward originally, had 5 hitouts. Managed to kick a goal though.

Dunno who Pittonet is but judging from his 6 disposals and 7 hitouts, has been dropped for Ceglar who is a ruck. I'll cop that one too.

All im saying is most teams run one bonafide Ruck and have someone who can back them up, not necessarily another ruckman. We got killed by Roughead (not even the good one) who had more hitouts than Clarke and Griffen, who offered more around the ground than either of them. He isn't even a true ruckman, once Minson comes back in the team, he'll be pushed to fullback or up forward. The biggest win came from the player that played in place of a 2nd ruck, the worst players on their team had 10 touches and thats more than Griff or Zac got for the game too.

If we play Sandi, i feel we should only play 1 ruck unless Griffen or Clarke can get their game together up forward, neither are a legitimate target, Griffen is terribly slow, Clarke just lacks football nous when it comes to leading or finding space.

Spot on until you mentioned Roughead. He is their first choice ruck and will play there all year. Minson is basically done barring an injury.

Minson would've played last week if it weren't for a hamstring injury, i dare say they wont play him unless he plays several blinders in the VFL. But i think you're right, Roughead will play in the middle for the year. Minson is apparently fit to play, but the way the doggies are going, i wouldn't tarnish their team with a lumbering tall.

I like the changes. Not too big of an overhaul, hopefully the B22 will keep getting chipped at and fine tuned slowly as the season goes on. Langdon and Pearce pushed in for now, I suspect they will be cemented in or will show what players last week failed to show. I suspect another 3-4 changes for the final team going off this weekends one.

Bennell is a lock in, I'd also have Morabito close behind. The other 2 are anyones guess.

We should drop Mayne, Ballaz and Tab back to Peel and tell them we will select them once theyve kicked 20 goals....
Mind you Mayne could be 57 years old by the time that happens

Taberner needs to kick a bag for Peel, force his way into this team and perform each week otherwise he won't be in purple for much longer.

We are screaming for a tall forward, yet he keeps getting dropped. Alarm bells have to be ringing.

It's hard enough that he is the first scapegoat that is dropped when Freo cannot kick goals or lose heavily. Pity that Mayne doesn't get the same treatment, who knows how he would benefit from performing well in the WAFL for a few weeks. Mzungu/ C. Pearce have also been given a reprieve due to being more experienced. Obviously different rules applies to different players in the team.
Need to be realistic here. Tabs was drafted as a rookie, has been developing each year and has played only 29 games (mostly red vested). If he was playing for a team such as Brisbane, St Kilda or any other developing club he would be persisted with and given time to grow. But because Freo have been in the finals since 2012, we have been expecting a quick fix each season from him.

A Pearce has shown more in the few games he's played forward than Tabs has in all of his. That's not putting Tabs down, that's just the fact of the matter. If we're playing Alex forward, then Tabs being dropped is a no-brainer.

Missing a lot of marks may have something to do with it.
Alex Pearce takes the marks that Taberner misses and if we want another tall forward then Pearce is the better alternative, at least from a marking perspective.

Tabs was #4 for contested marks per game last year for us.

Could have easily brought A Pearce in to replace Griffin and played 3 tall forwards like every other team in the AFL.
