Lloyd is often complementary of the Dogs but he and Cornes went hard at us early when they smelled blood and, like many in the media, are just doubling down week after week hoping they’ll eventually be right.

I keep hearing that the Dogs will have to fight to keep up with Melbourne's midfield, this is actually something that is being said with a straight face. Even if you take into account the Gawn factor we have the better midfield plain and simple. Harmes will not get the better of Libba again + he has been heavily tagged by Drew twice in the past 4 weeks, he is accustomed to the attention. Baz is in rare form, Treloar is about ready to tear a game to shreds, Dunks has settled nicely into his run with roll across the ground, Hunter is almost unrivaled on the wing while Bont & Macca are studs. Melbourne need to shut us down, not the other way around.

Also talking heads are still running with the notion that our defenders can be exploited one on one. It has happened ONCE this year with the outlier Peter Wright game. You would think they would realise our defensive structure is absolutely elite, we have yet to concede 100 points this year. Neither have the Dees, you would think whoever scores 80 points is a huge chance to win.

Peter Wright didn’t have to contend with Keath or Gardner in R21 and there was no Stef minimising the damage in the middle (how did 2MP go 3 weeks later?). He also kicked very straight. Our defence never receives any plaudits but have done a great job all year! Severely underrated!

Peter Wright looked like the second coming of Coleman because the Bombers walked it out under no difficulty and he was manned up against either Cordy or Schache. Just have to look at the fact that he got nowhere near it when Keath was playing to see how bullshit that is.
