Well we did go 10-1 in games without McStay this year. That loss being the Dees.

I reckon we’ve proven over the last 2 seasons that we don’t rely on any single player to win games

We even beat Geelong without Moore. Hell, could have beat Brisbane at Marvel without Moore, De Goey, Daicos and Hill

Brisbane also have the same mentality which is why we’ll match up well. They don’t rely on the one player either

We used the last part of the season to explore different roles, going into a GF I can't see us utilising someone in a role that they haven't shown they can play unless we find ourselves in an injury crisis (3-4 players who play similar roles all out).

Frampton has proved he can play 2nd ruck and key position defence but he was surprisingly poor in every game as a key position forward and couldn't bring the ball to ground.

Kreuger has played 2 games (both of which he negatively impacted our progression up the ground) for the season despite being fit for another 10 in the VFL, it is so much more likely we slightly tweak or emphasize parts of our game (ie. speed on the ball, overlapping runs, spoiling over boundary line to gain territory, balance between ruck pushing back to defend vs conserving energy to offer option down the line) than bring in someone who hasn't shown they can do a role during the regular season.
Krueger for those 2 games was thrown into the seniors after injuries with no vfl games

He was rusty af

As expected, King and Gerard already making the case for why we won’t win

Love it

All the metrics and stats are against us. They are just looking a5 it at face value. There is no doubt we will have to produce a Bulldogs 2016 effort to win this, however we are more than capable of doing it

Don’t they?

They've had basically no injuries all season.

We’re yet to really see Brisbane truly tested with injury so we can’t definitely say.

keep our structures everywhere else that have got us to the GF.

Adams will play, I’m confident. His incident wasnt at speed or running, it was a knock.

Out mcstay: in adams

Howe Moore maynard
IQ Murphy pendles
Sidey Degoey jaicos
Adams WHE hill
Elliot checkers mccreery
Cameron Mitchell crisp
Daicos, ginni, cox, markov
Sub: lipinski- play to his strength of running later in the game.

Jonny * noble I wish I could fit you in
This!!

I would love JFN to come back for the Granny, but our backline is functioning too good at the moment to mess with it, i would love his speed coming out of the backline, but who do you take out?!?!?!

King really has jumped ship hasn’t he? Quite a different opinion then before the Port game..

The more I think about it and read other posts the more I’m positive Krueger will play. It’s a like for like, we can’t only have checkers and Cox. Coxy is a great match for the big O and pants him last time. Cameron is not a forward, we need Freddy to be that target for the first 2 1/2 quarters before releasing the Ginni sub. I don’t care that Freddy has been injury prone he’s exactly the player we need right now, this is why he’s at the club and if it wasn’t for us getting Dan this season he’d have played this role a lot of the season. A smaller forward line is just playing into Brisbanes hands, Harris Andrews will have a day out, he would play on someone like WHE and just take over.
Our backs have been killing it so no way I’m changing them.

Just my thoughts, I’ve seen every AFL and VFL game this year. While Freddy had a slow start he’s second half has been very good, he’s got bags of 5, crashing packs and bringing the ball to ground. If he lasts a half-3 quarters then we’ve got exactly what we want from him.

I reckon we go with a shorter forward line. Only change needs to be adams for mcstay and start ginnivan.

Forces the mids to try hit up a target inside 50 instead of bombing it in or better yet scoring themselves.

The key to winning this game (besides a solid defence) is to be unpredictable and have multiple goal scorers.
Even harder to hit up a small forward under grand final heat. No get out player to kick to like the Lions have when the pressure is elite. Their intercept defenders will have a field day.

Guys, need some sort of reassurance? Are we any chance to beat the Lions?

Reading some of the posts on their board, they are already going the early crow, pretty much saying they have the cup in the cabinet already.

If Adams comes back in what about throwing Degoey up forward more often? It’s been done before to huge effect.

We haven't lost a game at the MCG against an interstate side under Fly. They're 1 from 14 from their last 15 MCG games or something. Were the actual favs. I think were a chance..

They will be toast.

Frampton is the better option as he usually still standing at the completion of a game with both shoulders intact. That places him at the head of the pack. Why did we chase him if not for this very circumstance? He was never going to be the number one key forward or defender, he was our back up plan, our break glass in time of emergency player and he has done a fair job whenever he has been called upon.
Would much rather Frampton breaking the glass, if Krueger tries he would snap in half leaving the glass intact.

Just to make sure this thread doesn’t lose steam on its way to 250 pages:

A couple of left-ish field options that have not YET been discussed

a) Frampton in to play on Daniher; Moore forward to kick 5 in a match and Norm Smith winning display …
b) Beggy in to play KPF and to tackle / smash the Brisbane defenders into the ground & submission …

floreat-THY-pica!
I like Option a) - think I suggested it earlier and had a Like. Wouldn't consider Moore as a permanent forward, possibly look to rotate Moore and Howe through KPF depending on game situation. Would love to see Moore take a big contested mark and slot the first goal through - that would set the "G" alight.

I don't like Begg as a forward - his one wood is his in-side game, I don't anticipate that there'll be as much in-side game this week, more that the ball will ping between half forward lines - Beggy will get lost with the ball pinging around - Krueger is a better defensive forward than Begg - he's quicker, more agile and has better game sense.
