His use inside 70 was clearly BOG and in finals when the heat is on the ability to execute is crucial as the Dees learned the hard way. Even if he needs to find space to do it he managed it last night. His hands in tight to release were also good, he had the equal 3rd most score involvements for us and his running power is always going to be highly valued.

Your obviously not dropping these guys, but on the night he was better than Elliott, McReery, Adams and Jaicos. Hill aside he was probably our best ground level offensive player.

Yep I think many are setting themselves up for disappointment if they think Lipinski will be dropped. And let’s be honest I’m also frustrated at his lack of physicality in the contest paired with slow pace (an extremely rare bad combo for an AFL player), but that 10min passage with his three clever calm kicks including a GA and one that should have been a GA is why they’ll keep him in the team.

Coaches want him to run hard both ways and deliver cleanly i50. They’ll give him a pass based on that.

I do think perhaps we’ll finally see them change their mind in the ruck situation, or create another unfortunate story by dropping Markov for Nick (assuming Maynard is clear to play).

It is way too early to think about changes.
Nobody predicted we would drop Noble.

As we don't even know who we are playing, how can Fly possibly know his strategy, when he doesn't know the strengths of the opposing side.
In - N Daicos
Out - TBC

Congratulations, you guys are well on your way but heard your prelim will be sat twighlight as the loser of bris v port will host a semi next sat night. So you will be playing the winner of that semi and they will need a 7 day break. The winner of bris/port will get the fri night prelim and play the winner of melb/ car or syd which will be played next fri night.
No way José.
We finished top of the ladder. We'll play Friday night to have the longer break.

Lipinski was getting Didaka votes in a big game versus Geelong only a few weeks ago.
Such a fickle bunch.
It wouldn't actually surprise me if he is omitted, but I doubt it happens.

Tipping that Fly played him more as a defensive forward on Salem, and was then totally blanketed his influence out of D50. Fly would've loved that. Coaches love a good role player!
Though I do agree that he looked slow and softish at times, and nobody wants to see that in a final.

IN: N.Daicos
OUT: Depends on the role required by him and others. Markov, D.Cameron, and Lipinski do seem the likely ones.

Does Gini come in for someone?
Do we play Cameron with Cox or run with McStay as the back-up ruck?
How does our boy JFN get back in?
If Maynard is out (unlikely IMO), is Frampton the man to come in? This might allow Gini to come in for Cameron.

Serious selection headaches. There'll be a few nervous lads training the house down over the next fortnight.

Nick is going to have enormous pressure on his young shoulders come preliminary final day. He won't have played for two months and many (not the club) will be expecting a game worthy of the returning Messiah. The tempo is so hot and just keeps rising when you reach the penultimate game. I hope he copes with the build up.

I think Nick will be fine.

He won't need to start a thread to prove what a club legend he is.

Because we’re Collingwood and knowing our luck, Maynard will be suspended…

If we play:

Port
Outs: Maynard (susp), Lipinksi (omit)
Ins: Daicos, Noble

Brisbane:
Outs: Maynard (susp), Lipinksi (omit)
Ins: Daicos, Frampton

GWS:
Outs: Maynard (susp), Lipinksi (omit)
Ins: Daicos, Noble

Saints:
Outs: Maynard (susp), Lipinksi (omit)
Ins: Daicos, Frampton

While I personally would prefer Adams is dropped ahead of Lipinski, I’m aware Lipinski is a better chance of being dropped than Adams.

Meh, he'll be up to it. Not like he hasn't had perceived pressure in the past, he'll be fine and light up the G.

This is my view also, irrespective of the opponent. Soft players struggle in finals.

You might consider dropping Cameron depending on how deadly their rucks are.

I feel like Moore plays better with Frampton, as would Howe when not required to kill every ball like a kamikaze. But again depends on the oppositions marking power in the 50.
It kills me to say it; Frampton is not AFL standard.

Cameron is an interesting one, has been down on form and looks like he’s playing hurt, I’m sure of this.

But Cameron rarely has a game where he’s not influential, he always seems to have one or two really pivotal moments a game and plays well late in games and has saved us a few times with his positioning which is usually spot on.
I’d be looking a Lippa out definitely but not sure about anyone else.

Interesting point about Cameron.

I sit near a Pies fan who every week is critical of Cameron, and his criticism is influencing my view of the big bloke! But you are right in saying he does have some pivotal or important moments. He was at least marking again on Friday night.

The outcome of Maynard’s case may determine what happens with Cameron, such as bringing in Frampton to bolster our defence, and rucks at the same time, although his recent form hasn’t been great. Interesting also that it was Cameron who was subbed out at that critical stage in the last quarter when we were under immense pressure.
