With the luxury of a bye, would Fly or any of his assistants actually fly up to Brisbane to watch the Lions v Port game live?

Nick is going to have enormous pressure on his young shoulders come preliminary final day. He won't have played for two months and many (not the club) will be expecting a game worthy of the returning Messiah. The tempo is so hot and just keeps rising when you reach the penultimate game. I hope he copes with the build up.
I believe he'll be better than the Messiah, and he won't sweat it.

My observations watching the first half of Port vs Lions.

- When exiting D50, you have to take the 15 meter kicks that Lions allow. Even if it’s lateral kicks - you must take it.

- Once you get to the wing area, you need to aim inside of the “50” symbol. They set up for the ball down the line.

- Lions don’t try to “burst” out of their defence. So even if it’s a turnover, we won’t be hurt immediately unless we don’t man up and slow their play.

- Lions Mids and Forwrds setup 10-15 meters out the front of a long/high ball. Brisbane defenders don’t mark (as much) but rather try punch the ball forward.

- Keeping Andrews accountable is the key.

- Port just explode from their midfield stoppages. However, their defence looks shakey. Lord playing deep on Andrews is interesting. He’s not negating, but attacking.

I think I heard channel 7 say Pies reserves played a scratch match against St Kilda reserves. If that happened, does anyone know who played well?

It was tough to say, it was basically bruise free. Apart from when Oscar got injured. But Kreuger did well, the defenders were strong. Fin. Arlo and Allan performed well in the midfield.

Did noble play?

Same.. glad it looks like a Friday prelim. Would be a farce for us to play on the Saturday and get the disadvantage going into a GF for finishing top
Also we play Friday night prelim against the winner of the Saturday night semi. 6 day break for that team to get over ant niggles and be on the road.

Reckon Port are limping to the line
They will be road kill if they make it to the G
I’d rather play Port than GWS on current form from both.
Since round 12, GWS have been the second most in form team only behind Carlton. They’re a formidable opponent. They also just got to play the G and convincingly won.
