I personally don't think we'll see Howe line up in the forward line again for as long as Cox is in the side. And if he does I suspect it'd only be after Cox is subbed off.
For as long as Cox and Cameron are in the side, agree 100%. I still think there's a slim chance we go with just Cox as our main ruck, and in that case, Howe could definitely end up forward with McStay pinch-hitting. Although I think the likelihood of it happening is very small, even though Cameron has been poor for weeks now.

As per bucks.

Buckley believes Cox must be picked as Darcy Cameron and Dan McStay aren’t dominating in their respective roles on top of the American’s reputation as a proven finals performer.

“Yeah, he will (remain in the team),” Buckley said on SEN Breakfast.

“He will (be picked) on the basis of a couple of standout finals performances.

“That might be an opportunity. The fact that he's done it before, I think you do it.

“The other reason is because neither Darcy Cameron or Dan McStay are in ripping form and because they're not in ripping form, you can't rely on one or the other.

“There are a few question marks there, but I think that Darcy Cameron hasn't been in great form.

“So, I think you need Mason Cox there to cover that and I think Darcy Cameron allows Mason Cox to go forward and maybe do his thing.

“It's a fair question because there's still some decisions to be made.”

With Darcy Moore and Nathan Murphy returning from injury and Beau McCreery being available after a one-week suspension, Buckley believes that trio will return to the side with Nick Daicos still another week away from returning from a knee injury.

Buckley expects Fin Macrae to lose his spot as sub with Billy Frampton coming out of the side for captain Moore.

He expects there to be one other change which will have to be made to make room for Murphy.

“We're assuming Moore, Murphy and McCreery will come back in and Daicos doesn't,” Buckley said.

“I think Frampton for Moore is easy. I think Murphy is interesting because I think the sub will be out of (Oleg) Markov, Ginnivan or McCreery, I think they're the three for the sub.

“Maybe Hoskin-Elliott, although Will was one of the few Collingwood players that played a good four-quarter game and looked on top of ground.”\

Key to beating Melbourne is to match their hardness at contests generally and to beat or match them at clearances specifically
If Gawn Viney Petracca Brayshaw and Oliver dominate clearances and field position we will struggle to move the ball effectively in to our forward half

Probably right but if Cameron puts in another mediocre game this debate will roll through to the next match.

Cameron hasn’t been terrible though, just so-so

Bar fri night mcstay has been excellent, disagree with bucks on this one. Averaging 2 goals a game and doing everything we wanted him to do. He had a quiet one fri sure.
Agreed. One quiet game. it happens. Checkers was quiet for 6 weeks.

I don't understand why Mihocek can't just sacrifice his game for 1 week and play a defensive role on May?

Between McStay, Elliott, McCreery, Hill and Ginnivan there's plenty of firepower down there.
I agree in theory particularly as he's a former defender, but the concern is that he's never made it work. Particularly at half forward, guys like MacGovern, May, Weitering have always taken him to the cleaners and had a big impact. When he tries to separate them from the other forwards, they just zone off and when it's a one on one, he gets beaten. So the option you're left with is a pack at half forward with both May and Checkers in it, which isn't what we want either

Thursday thing is annoying but I'll still be going. Surprised we're favourites going by how some of the media are writing us off 😂

Thursday isn't ideal for anyone.

But, i think we are best just embracing it and hopefully Friday work with minimal sleep is worth it.

95k... it's going to be a belter. GF preview imo.

With Murphy and Moore back, does Howe go forward again to man Lever zoning off?

His first half against Bris really nullified Harris Andrews.

Howe's game against Brisbane has been overrated.

He essentially tried to play 20-30m behind Andrews who gave him little to no respect. The issue was that Howe never went near the pill himself. If he's to play forward then it has to be similar to the final term v Carlton. He was reacting quickly and charging at the ball. There's no use sagging off your man, if he wants nothing to do with you.

The bloke that has been the most influential defensive forward in the comp this season is, Jake Melksham. Who we don't have to worry about due to his injury. I have no doubt he would've sought out a match up with Darcy Moore. He's a big loss to the Dees forward line. I want Moore to go to Van Rooyen and give him an old fashioned hiding.

One way to counteract Lever and May is not to kick it to them.
We need to lower the eyes going I50 to pick out players either leading or on their own, rather than long bombs.
Tay's kick to Pendles in the first quarter on Friday is an example.

I've had flashbacks to this years KB game where we continuously turned the ball over 60-80m from goal, time and time again.

The past 6 weeks we've been very content with kicking long down the line. Where has our dare by foot gone? I want to see us switching that mother fcuker across and through the middle of the ground as much as possible. Get Froffies May and Jake the Snake out of position as often as possible.
