Spot on , his timing was out , at least he has been consistent in that regard for the last 3 years

Grundy was temporarily forward but Begg wasn't really rucking brilliantly. I'm still sceptical about him. Grundy performed alright but he was on Southport's kill list.

I’m bringing in Brown, Macrae, Kelly, Henry, Madgen, Poulter and Ruscoe…give key players a rest. With finals on the horizon we may find some of the lesser lights perform.

Why are you skeptical of Begg?

Apart from rucking, he doesn't do a lot. He does it well enough but in the modern game, the best rucks are the ones who do something else. He could be a good player but he doesn't really touch the ball elsewhere a lot.

But I thought he competed pretty well. He took 1 mark, while we would like to see more of it; but that will come with more strength and confidence in himself.

Beggy’s best option is KPD in my view. He’s to small to ruck, and I don’t see him having that forward craft. He’s quite agile, I think Kelly will be gone end of year and maybe begg can transition to defence.

Until he can compete aerially he should continue to work on it in the VFL.

Considering he is in his 10th season, it's not bad you can question only two years of it. We can say what about his previous 7 years where he's won two Copelands and twice AA.....

I think Begg & McMahon are 2 young talls who have shown enough to suggest they have a future.
We should persist with both - we don't want them to hit their straps at other teams.

I think McCreery is looking a bit tired, to be honest. He seemed a little sluggish compared to usual. A week off for a rest could be a good thing, but I think he is really important to our structure and should be straight back in.

No. Big mistake. I cannot believe that people can watch the past ten weeks and talk of discarding Cox without a moment's hesitation. Her was really good again today. I don't think Grundy would enjoy having the weight of the world on his shoulders on Friday night in front of 75 thousand with us on a ten game winning streak. He would want to have a big game.

7 disposals and 3 tackles. he doesn't impact the game and doesn't get involved in many scoring chains. You have to do more than just apply pressure, he was ****ing useless today

Grundy needs another game, an overweight d grade ruckman beat him in the VFL. It’s just a matter of game time for him to improve. Give him 2 leading into the finals.

Did he? I'd have thought Grundy was very carefully time managed, maybe 50-55% TOG, but still managed 21 hitouts. The "D grade ruckman" seemed to play at least 85% TOG yet only had 28, and a significant number of those against Begg. I'm not saying Grundy starred but the hyperbole is hardly merited.

Problem is that he didn't bring it to the game today and was a liability.

McCreery doesn't have much to his game other than tacking and pressure. He isn't that skilled.

I actually watched the game with my eyes and saw him leave 3+ goals on the table with poor forward craft and barely touch the footy.

Actually I can. He had more sprints than anyone else on the ground today, including 7 repeat sprints. Just works bloody hard.

How was his tackle in the closing minutes today!
