This is going to be a smashing of biblical proportions. Expecting all the Hawthorn small forwards to get 5 goals out the back on the way to a 15 goal loss.

Looking forward to it.

This is the sort of game they'd usually win because the expectation is gone, the flag is out the window, do it for Daddy etc. but I just can't see how they stop Hawthorn kicking umpteen goals out the back with our putrid defensive set-up.

So here's a thought...... which I hate myself for suggesting

esava back to defence, frees up Bergman to play smaller.

I'd even be tempted to go with Marshall and mitch up fwd with 4 smalls - if we had any worth a pinch of salt. Could play butters/rozee there in patches

There would be no more pathetic way for Hinkley to go out than watching him make old man faces on the bench while this young, brash, fun Hawthorn team smacks us by 10 goals and Nick Watson and Jack Ginnivan skibidi rizz in the faces of the 30,000 true believers who bother to show up.

Anybody who's still true believer-y enough to actually go to this game will be the same thin-skinned mental pygmies who got genuinely upset by Josh Rachele's shit Facebook tier 'no teeth' attempt at banter, which would make their rage all the funnier. But the difference between Rachele and Hawthorn's mob of smug Gen Z w***ers is that Hawthorn's mob of smug Gen Z w***ers actually back it up on the field, and I can't help but respect them for it.

I'm never one to back against us never will ..
**** ken Hinkley...

If we win we should ....

Good

If we suffer defeat kill the campaigners contract at 11pm Friday night ...

Hopefully the old campaigner is packing his house up now ..

Also **** the AFL for ****ing us with the Houston bullshit ..

I'm just glad the long suffering hawks and cat's fans finally got to see some September action 🍗

Our defence Thursday night. If we bring that it’s all over.

This game will be tighter.

However, Mitchell is an astute coach of a well drilled team. Saw them here in gather round, they play well here.

Last time Hawthorn were here they were 7 goals up and stopped attacking, if Hawthorn won that game they would have finished second so they are not your normal 7th placed team.
We will get obliterated.

How good is Hawthorn as a club though. Win from nowhere in 2008, back it up with a 3peat. Gut their list completely, sack their coach... and in short order are right back up at the top again. Meanwhile the entire time we sit twiddling our thumbs talking about win loss records and co captains.

Agree with the sentiment although it's not exactly short order given the fact last night was their first final in 6 years and first finals win in 9 years.

But yes, they've rebuilt from a successful era in a very targeted way with a strong coach and wasted no time in no mans land. We on the other hand have existed in a perpetual state of mediocrity for 12 years and counting, continually topping up and basically just hoping that some day our bogan loser coach will somehow get lucky.

Crazy mixed feelings here! My fear is that we are going to beat Hawthorn - And I think we actually will!

I never want Port to lose, but if we do win, we face the scenario of Port possibly even winning a PF, and scraping into the grand final, which gives a 'pass mark" for Ken to stay as coach in 2025 ... Then the next week we are reamed by 20 goals in a grand final bloodbath.

Honestly if Port were a dog, I would have him put down!
It is ****ing horrible being continually put in a situation where you fear the team you love winning.

Our record of reverse results is actually quite phenomenal. To me it says a lot about our coaching group and as such there's just absolutely zero chance we're reversing that trend, plus all of the issues we have, the shaken confidence, etc.

I don't even reckon I'll watch the more I think about it.

Mitchell has the sigma grindset while ken is a beta

Marshall if fit plays.

Ratugolea is and has always been a disaster forward. There isn't and there has never been an excuse to play him there.

I'm OK with him in defence if there's a spot for him.

Dixon should not be given a farewell game in a final.

I'll roll the dice with Lord.

I would play Dante forward if he still wasn't so green. He just needs a few games experience forward at this level. Is the best set shot for goal on our list. Would be better than Dixon.

Lord is a specialist forward it's his job I'll go with him.

Lorenz.

Lorenz has a future with Port. He can replace any number of players in that side that played Geelong that don't.

Sweet probably can be forgiven after a run of really good efforts ( forget tap numbers Geelong were planning to lose there.) but another effort like that has him playing sanfl next year.

Give Dixon a fairwell game but only if he promises to go out Alistair Lynch style and take 4 with him.

Drop Dixon and McEntee
Bring in Lord and Sinn
Shuffle things around until they make sense

Couldn't be any worse than what we saw on Thursday night.

Rats back to defence is a horrible call and matchup IMO.

Hawks don’t play a tall forward line. Their zippy forwards would kill us even more than they already will with an extra tall there.
No doubt, just thinking out loud.

The issue is we play Berg as a third tall and need to free him up to play smaller without Houston.

I guess we can use Jones on that third tall role? Or Burton? Neither fill me with confidence though
