Oh look… the club’s no.1 apologist has stuck their head up..

Youre fxxkin tripping if you think they’d treat rankine the same if he did what stengle did..
Thank you Mr. Outrage factory.

You literally made up a hypothetical based on the fact a player ran out chances after repeated infractions. Then had a rant about the make-believe scenario in your head.

The coaches may say it's not the their job to identify and recruit talent, that's list management and recruiting. Ok, I can see that perspective, but somewhere along that line it's breaking down and someone needs to take accountability.
Looking back at the drafts after Nicks arrived, I'm not sure there's much to complain about. Seems like a good strike rate.

Then Rankine and Dawson as trades too....View attachment 1746838 Screenshot_20230721_201515_Chrome.jpg View attachment 1746839

No. Some players you don't even have to have 1 game..... That might just be those not getting games in the SANFL because the coaches see them up against their competition in training, Sholl, Murphy etc and are falling short of expectations.

I'm saying it seems to me that those "shiny new toys" who deserve games have been getting them by and large and those missing out highlight our lack of depth.

As I keep saying, we can't drop everybody's favourite spud all at the same time because the replacements just aren't there.

Worrell was one of those shiny new toys who just wasn't good enough in our selector's eyes

So you are saying it's the coaches investing in the wrong players then. Which is a valid point of view.
I'm not sure how you read that into it.

If a player isn't quite AFL standard, a player like Sholl might keep them out. If they have been on the list a while then they are probably on the way out.

But Pedlar, Michaelhaney, Soligo, Rachelle, Murray don't seem to be the wrong players to investing games into.

Worrell and Parnell have been getting a look.

Shoenberg had variable form, but is being given another crack...

It seems like they players who have the potential are being played. It also seems we have some players that are depth players and since we don't have depth they get games.

It's easy to complain but playing for 17 games when he's not ready doesn't seem productive.

3 hamstring tears in 12 weeks delayed him this year

Defo should have played his 2nd game much closer to his debut against saints , his form end of last year made a mockery out of that
A convenient excuse for the coaches given that they didn't play him when he was fit this year (until Doedee got injured) and didn't play him properly last season even though we stunk.

We're just obsessed with picking average players.

Cracks me up how much attention Murphy gets for a guy that is probably our equivalent of Jed McEntee

Prob been slightly better numbers than Jed but they are 22nd picked role players until someone else’s comes along to take their spot
Murphy has played almost 100 games for us, thats 5 years of consistent football.

If Jed McEntee is still in Ports best 22 in 4 years time you might eventually be right.

3 hamstring tears in 12 weeks isn’t any sort of excuse

That has a significant impact on a player if you’ve done 1 let alone 3

Also is a huge mental battle and training / game loads need to be managed etc

If it was 1 hammy I’d agree but Burgo and docs / Physio would have been running his whole return to afl side

Last year I agree - should have been in wayyyy sooner , way too big a gap from debut until his 2nd game

Injured is a convenient excuse for coaches? WTAF

Or you narrative on him doesn't stack up.

Darcy Byrne Jones ?

Was a very good player now just a hard trier , every team has them

The amount of time people on here spend on Murphy compared to the importance of the issue to the teams form absolutely cracks me up

As I said, Worrell might have got some games earlier, if he didn't have an indiscretion.

Then it's hard to get into contention when others, like Michaelhaney go past you.View attachment 1746927

Yep, like Bernie Vince's lap of the pool table, that was a dagger through his chance of selection heart

Because we're an inept, clueless club

Thankfully he's now served his two year selection penance. Plus another player copped a season ending injury. All it took

Well then smart arse.. shouldn't be difficult to answer the question..

if Rankine got caught drink driving, then got busted by the cops with a small bag of powder, then got photographed in front of a plate at a party.. there is only 1 bad mistake there.. the other two shouldnt even be illegal in this day and age and probably wont be in a decade from now.

But back to rankine.. would the club push him out of the squad?.. effectively delisting him?

i don’t care if its a hypothetical of not.. you can still answer it.. but you wont.. because you know that they definitely wouldnt. And if you said they would treat him the same as stengle you’d look an even bigger fool than you already do.

and because you know they would treat rankine differently then the next think you’d have to ask yourself is why..

and its pretty obvious why.. because they didnt rate stengle because they have very dubious skills when it comes to identifying talent.

you know that.. but admitting it makes your rant against me look silly.

right now.. stengle has had a far more successful career than rankine!. Stengle is a fxxkn gun player.

our dickhead run club forced him out and handed an AA premiership player to Geelong for nothing…. Brilliant list management!..

but you do you.. and keep apologising for them.

The club can do no wrong in Mattrox’s eyes.. as George Krammer said “has anyone seen Mattrox and Nicksy in the same room yet?”..

We wouldn't have picked him even if fit, like we didn't the season before. And like we didn't this season when he was fit (until the Dude got concussed then did his ACL, that is).

But it was the injury you see... not our selection policy that just happens to have been the same before and after the hamstring

One of the coaches said worrell and Doedee couldn’t play in the same side.

DBJ is 9th in the league for goal assists this year (and has more than any Crows player) off of 1.3 less I50's per game than Murphy. He's adding much more to to the Power side than Murphy does to ours.

Hast he also been all Australian?

I'd cut Murphy a break if he achieved AA status one year
