Best of luck to you both, mate. We lost one as well after a year of trying. I've never felt so helpless. Couldn't imagine what you and your wife have gone through.
Thanks mate, hopefully one day. I don't talk about it much, even with friends but it's pretty devastating every time it happens, I go into a funk for a good 6 months after. TBH I don't know how my wife handles it, I know it must be worse for her. Feels like the last 5 years has just been hospitals, operations for her and planning everything around IVF (it really takes over your entire life). With luck it'll pay off in the end but I'm not overly confident after so long.
It's bittersweet but it's why I'm always genuinely happy to hear on here that someone has had a healthy baby, I really do hope it's going well with you guys and yours.

Really wish you well mate. Been down that road and ulitmately had success after 6 years. Bloody hard on all concerned. Hang in there mate and I hope that you end up with that great end result.

Godfather32 DanWCE I think you misunderstand JEagle's point. It's perfectly fair for a supporter of a sports club to expect that one of their star players, that they (most probably) have never met before in their life and don't know personally, shouldn't be so selfish as to attend the birth of his child over a final/GF.

I mean, one of the most beautiful and fantastic things about the human experience, something that happens only once or twice in your lifetime, an event that can often be considered the high point in one's own lifetime, isn't that important. Children are born everyday, Shuey could just attend someone elses birth.

Well, when you put it like that it makes complete sense. I mean he can probably just go and watch 50 lambs being born in a field anytime he wants after the GF, same thing really.

People forget the added pressure on the wife here also. She would almost certainly feel like she needs to give approval for the player to play in a GF even though she wants him at the birth. Not easy for anyone.

Let's be real. Shuey should be on the plane. This " you have to be there when your kid is born shit" is a new phenomenon. Not long ago men either waited outside or went about their day as normal. To all the men commenting in here, go ask your dad where he was when you were born!! The answer might surprise you.
My dad just said he's the one that gave birth while Mum waited outside. I’m very surprised atm.

The chances of Shuey's misso giving birth on game day is like 1 in 7. The chances of Shuey's misso giving birth on grand final day is like 1 in 36 (given she's due in the next month). The chances of Shuey's misso giving birth on grand final day with the eagles playing is like 1 in 50.

Two things can be true at once. You can support Shuey on his decision not to play because of family and also be super disappointment in losing a star player in an important game. Holding both views are not mutually exclusive.

Sure, disappointment is fine, but expecting a player to miss the birth of their child (as JEagle said) is more then a little unfair.

Let’s face it, after Shuey’s decision to go for goal in the first quarter last time, we might be better off if he misses

Probably pretty close. Nelson seems to get named a bit in these extended benches.

Reckon Ainsworth will be named instead of Mallen though

Best of luck GF32. That sounds like a tough row to hoe.
