BW would've also been smashed in the ruck (ok maybe he would've have had 5 more hitouts than Flynn) but he would've been even less useful around the the ground imo

We don't know that. For all we know Flynn may have been given specific instructions and the way he played went against those instructions. There's a lot behind closed doors we don't know.

Thing about Flynn is, yes he got obliterated in the hitouts (Bailey would've been too), but he is so slow he can't pressure the opposition, let alone win some ground balls to at least make things harder for the other team. He's basically a statue
