Newchurch will not play until he can make a tackle.
Averages 2.7 tackles a game..

on the weekend he didn’t lay a tackle..
but then again, Ned Mchenry only layed one tackle for the whole game too.

don’t exactly need to lay tackles on the opposition when you have the ball in hand and you're kicking goals do ya!.

this weird obsession with tackling pressure in our forward line among some of our supporters continues..

I think once we get Keane, Parnell/Jones Worrell into our backline this will further strengthen our kicking out of defence. Murray, Hinge, Doedee are good kicks and with the above mentioned who are also good kicks we should have one of the best kicking backlines the club have had for a while. This will put more pressure on the oppo bringing the ball out of defence and if we have Dawson, Soligo, Rachele around the wings/middle we I'll have good delivery into our forward line. Surely once we have that backline structure there is no need for Dawson to ever play defence again.

I agree I think once we get Keane, Worrell and Parnell into the side we are a better side.

Now on a more personal side - why the new persona and why the regular changes? You must be close to 10 identities over the last few years, I realise one of them had a tragic end but why the latest change?

Sounds like Fog won't get up.

Give Taylor a go for Pedler
Hately for Berry. Crouch and Schoenberg are easy options here. But Berry out is a chance for Hately to play a midfield role.

On SM-A325F using BigFooty.com mobile app
I’d go Schoenberg and Taylor.

Why do we do it to ourselves?

Talk up Newchurch... maybe Taylor...

It's McHenry. And if he plays well (or even if he doesn't) he'll stay in.
Correct .....Jones will retain a spot inside the 22 .....Shoenberg to be called up, with Ned as the Sub

Obviously Newchurch has heaps of Natural ability, How's his defensive pressure without the ball tracking?
McHenry obviously not gifted skill wise but has the heart of a bull terrier
And this is why McHenry will be preferred over Newchurch .....not that Newchurch is in the frame anyway

Out - Butts
In - Keane
Sadly Jordon can’t play with his bung shoulder. It has drained his confidence and his body position in marking contests is awful. I don’t think Keane is ready but we have no other options at the moment.

Out - Berry (Inj)
In - Taylor
Zac can play a combination of inside mid and forward. Crouch and Hately are one game back from injury.

Out - Pedlar (Sus)
In - Jones
Chayce is a confidence player (and is rarely confident). He provides flexibility (can play forward, mid or back) and looked quite confident on Saturday.

With a short week prior to Carlton we will need to make more changes next week (hopefully Fog will be back as well as Pedlar).

Tragic end? That sounds final. Got my mixed up with someone else.

How the hell can Newcombe do the chicken wing Chris Judd manoeuvre and get a fine and Pedlar does a straight forward tackle with no injury and gets a week. Very strange that the crows didn't dispute that. I'm sure the 1 week was because of the idiot commentator making such a big deal out of a perfect tackle (resulting in a htb) combined with a player faking for a free. Newcombe nearly rips a players arm out of the socket which could potentially cause a 3 month injury and gets away with no suspension. If the crows do the same chicken wing it's at least 2 weeks. Any incident involving a crow gets a minimum 1 week. The crows just accepting this is bullshit and weak. There are times you can't accept injustice and this is one of them.

I just think Newchurch deserves a go..

he’s consistently kicked goals in all the trials and the one SANFL game this year..

and I just get the feeling his skills will translate to AFL level.. in that he’ll just play the same sort of game.. he’s very quick speed wise, probably the fastest player on our list but his speed in decision and execution are also lightening quick so he rarely gets caught with ball in hand and nearly always gets a clean disposal off..

his work in the middle in that game against port didn’t go unnoticed.. Godden took the time to mention how impressive he thought he was..

he did some nice things through the midfield.

just give the lad a run FFS. It’s the perfect game to...
see what he can bring, he could really rise to the big occasion..

But no doubt they’ll go with the already proven numerous times fail of Ned McHenry..

Ned’s another too good for SANFL but nowhere near good enough for AFL type... he always has been and he always will be. There is little point continuing to invest time and waste games on him.

we all know it.
I agree with most of that. I think even your conservative comments about Ned are still a bit generous for him. I'd call him a handy SANFL player, not "way too good". Let's face it, he ain't no Mitch Grigg; he'll never win a Margery medal no matter how long he plays for. I'm certainly glad though we've stuck with Newchurch, he could turn out to be a diamond in the rough.

Injury list as of Tuesday, April 4:

Sam Berry (calf) test
Darcy Fogarty (knee) 1 week
Josh Worrell (hamstring) 2 weeks
Hugh Bond (knee) TBA
Patrick Parnell concussion protocol

Parnell will miss again, still has symptoms

Burgess did say in his update that returning this week wasn’t out of the question depending on how he trained, but would be a certainty to return next week.

Fog himself said something along the lines of the “club wanting to be cautious to make sure it doesnt get damaged further”..

It sounds like Fog wants to play but the club wants to take the cautious approach and give it another week.

I’d be listening 110% to Burgess and not Fog if I was the club.. whilst its good to see how hungry fog is to get back out there.. be pissed off if he did and made it worse and ended up missing 6-8 weeks like gawn is..

I wonder if McPherson is a chance to come in as the sub this week (or even starting in the 22).

Nicks rates him, and from all reports he played really well on the weekend. With Dawsons move to the midfield in RD 3 Nicks might bring in another defender.
Who you taking out of defence from last week?

Who you taking out of defence from last week?

Its a long shot and not what I would do.

But we had 8 defenders last week - Max/Murray/Butts/Doedee/Smith/Hinge/Dawson/Milera.

With Dawson spending a lot more time in the middle - could easily shuffle Milera to HFF to replace Pedlar which leaves a spot on the interchange for McPherson.
