Could not agree more as lot of posters just naming most of our experienced players and bringing in untried kids .
Where one of problems is these kids not in AFL not getting real games .
If want to give someone like Shoenberhg a go then bring him in place of McHenry who not touching ball and maybe Scholl for Kelly who not generating anything. Like idea of trying Sloane up forward. Will Nicks be courageous to drop M Crouch again
Losing trade value by dropping him. That’s why you have to trade some players when their value is at peak ala Port with Polec and Chad Wingard. Matt was overvalued two years ago as was someone like Lynch. Trade them then

Jake Kelly last year was the other big miss in terms of trading at peak value, he'll never get that high again even if we continue to play him, and will decline even further in value if we drop him to try our young options.

Changes for this week I'd like to see

Out: Sloane, M. Crouch, Kelly
In: Schoenberg, Poholke, Sholl

If Fogarty is fit I'd bring him in for Lynch also. Not prepared to drop Hartigan yet, because I think Butts and Worrell are a 2021 project, and really I'd be keeping Mackay in until Milera is fit, and then saying to Milera "You have the rest of the season to show how much you want to have an AFL career".

We wouldn't have gotten much for Kelly, just like we didn't get much for CEY or Greenwood.

Hopefully that’s the last we have seen him

Yeah, I'm willing to stamp Murphys card. Stengle can have the rest of the season, but it is looking like we'll need to grab another small forward from the draft on top of Newchurch.

One thing in the Crows favour for this game is the club being Monday specialists, in the history of the Crows they’ve played 4 games on Monday’s for 4 wins (v Haw ‘92, v Freo ‘97, v Coll ‘97, v Coll ‘06). Will be the club’s 2nd home game on a Monday the last one being against Collingwood in 1997.

Crows were Gold Coast and Carrara specialists until this season too :(

Stengle has never shown much at all. The only reason he's so highly rated here is because people here decided last year, against all evidence, that Eddie Betts was part of the problem at the Crows and so invented the myth of a talented young player who was being kept out of the side by him.
Eddie WAS a part of the problem - offered really little, clearly wasn't part of the future and his wife was white-anting by going to the media at every opportunity.

None of that is anything to do with Stengle.

And to be fair, I don’t think anyone here is saying Stengle is better than Betts. He clearly has a lot of tricks as a forward but has yet to show consistency like Betts during his younger days. This year will be great opportunity for him.

Blood Shoenberg for Sloane and piss Matt Crouch off for Gibbs
Na. That would be bringing one problem in for another Gibbs is done. Play Matt and hope he plays well to increase his trade value or make up an injury. I would go the injury path and play Schoenberg whether ready or not. Give him some games, he may surprise a few. If he tires which he will play O'Connor. Would trade both Crouches end of the year. We may get a late first for Brad but likely a 2nd at best for Matt. That's if a club will take Matt which may not be the case if we keep playing him.

Stengle's performance wasn't great on the weekend, I was a bit disappointed because i've been behind him for a while now. But having said that i'm quite sure that was his floor. And his ceiling is a lot more promising.

I would be giving him at least the same opportunity to see if he can't prove the doubters wrong that was afforded to Murphy. If he's still at that level in 4 more weeks then i'll be the first to admit I was wrong

4th rounder but getting some of these players out stops match committee from playing them. Also helps out with cap space and locking in a better player.

Kelly is the kind of guy that I wouldn't mind as depth on a basement salary contract in fairness. If a defender gets injured he's a solid option to fall back on.

I'd take a 4th rounder if we could use the pick well in trade or drafting a particular target player, though.

The guy has played a handful of games. He has the tools.

So we should be prioritising him over the likes of Sholl when we are in rebuild mode?

We shouldn't, but we absolutely will. 16 worthless touches factored by 220 games is valued higher than say Hamill's output factored by 5 games. Good test hopefully this week with Sloane missing. If he does, will it be Gibbs, Knight or Seedsman or can they dispel the total minimum games played requirement theory and go with Poholke's <20 or a debutante. Could Tex come up quicker than expected as he did with his mini preseason last year? Bloody Monday game.

I reckon they'll ruled a line through Knight.

The other 2 though......

I'm hopeful they bring back Poholke like they did when Matt got dropped. Just hopeful

I just want Ronin O'Connor to get up to speed. He's our "big mid" in the wings.
Me too, but my only issue is sending him out there to play as a 'big mid' when he doesn't have the muscle mass. That big mid role takes a huge toll on players physically, and while O'Conner certainly has a nice big frame, he's still most likely underdeveloped in terms of core strength.

I'd be more willing to play Schoenberg to play as a stoppage burst player. I think modern AFL suits his style a bit better as a rookie. Get it and go.

For me if Stengle can get his attitude right he will be our best option until we draft a better option or trade Rankine. (Come home mate, we have Squibbsy salary waiting for you.) What is holding Stengle back is that he comes across as a bit sulky on the field if things dont go his way. Needs to learn to forget missed opportunities and have more confidence in himself. Tbh I wish we had Dan Butler. Saints got a very good player off the tigers which they would be regretting giving up. He will likely destroy us this week.

I think Sloane needs a rest. Mackay was an odd choice. I think you run with EITHER Hartigan and no Kelly or Kelly and no Hartigan, and Doedee plays tall or small depending on the opposition.

So, for me, this week - Sloane, Mackay and Kelly out for Schoenberg, Seedsman and Tex Walker.

One debutante a week, and keep giving them games. Tex, to bring some experience to our forward line. I know folks will hate that, but we need an experienced head there - Lynch is good but too far up the ground to help organize the forward line.

has he shown anything in 6 career games yet to suggest he’s better than Jared petrenko?

he’ll play more this season obviously to give us more insight but I wont hold my breath.
I’ll say the same thing I said last week in regards to Ned McHenry when it comes to Stengle...

If we can give Murphy over 30 games to prove himself I’m sure we can give Stengle every game for the rest of the season to do so...

I haven’t heard a word yet on how these kids are going in practice games.

Anyone heard anything?
