Looks like I’m one short, in that case still drop Nelson but don’t bring in Foley.

Yeo and Jones were good down back so would prefer to keep Jones and Petch’s leg speed in the side
Foley wouldn’t be even close to getting a gig in my team. He just cruises around and is way too slow in moving the ball on when he gets it at all. May be ok as a mid but very average back man

Elbowed de Koning in the guts after Kennedy took a mark about 20 m out in the first quarter. A free kick was paid to Geelong. Geelong had riled Rioli just before this. Bews tackled him head high then put him in a headlock on the ground and rubbed his clenched fist all over his face. Looked like a near reportable action to me, anyway it probably riled Rioli who is a bit of a ticking bomb and he retaliated shortly afterwards. I don’t think Rioli’s offence was suspendable but who knows what will happen with the MRO lottery.
As others have said, Willie should get a fine at worst.

I was pretty disappointed (not surprised) at the lack of outrage or even comment of what bews did by the commentary team.

Got him in a high tackle, it happens. But on the ground he locked his arm in and squeezed - choking Rioli. Dangerous and disgraceful. Won't get cited but should be 3-4 weeks based on the potential to cause harm measure.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Willie is cited and then MRO will be pissed he got off after ‘flattening’ Rowell

This one could be a real raffle.

Do we even want to win anymore. Number 1 draft pick. We are so close to the end of the year. What does winning do to us now expect lose draft order places.

The chances of us finishing above 17th are low because we would probably need to win at least three or more games. The chances of us finishing 17th rather than 18th would have to be at least or more than 50% because we are only 0.1% behind NM who are possibly more of a basket case than us.

This is a bit of a bummer because it means pick 2 and possibly no Wardlaw who seems exactly what we need although there would still be a very good player or possibilies with pick 2.

Just heard on the Radio that the club has confirmed Gov has broken ribs and spent last night in hospital. No estimation on time out but I assume it will be several weeks.
West coast handing out long term big money contracts and said player constantly getting injured or form dropping off a cliff....name a more iconic duo.

I said it at the time that we shouldn't be giving Gov this huge deal when we know he will be breaking his ribs 4 years later. Amateur stuff.

If tanking then Harry Edwards

No match up for him and we look so much better without the lumbering galloping gasometer.

In Ryan and TK.

Out Gov and Petrol who just doesn’t impact games enough.

Should have had 3 goals yesterday - is that not impacting a game enough as a small forward?

People are way too negative re: Petch. He may not make it (I think he'll become a very handy role player personally), but this is a developmental year now, and he has plenty of tools for us to work with.

I think he did well enough on the weekend given he looked short of a gallop.

Building back a winning culture is more important than dropping 1 or 2 places down the draft order for mine. It goes to the standards the club sets itself internally. Application is just as important as talent, if not more so. That's my 2c at least.

Development year? What were the previous 4(?) yrs.

That aside he doesn’t use his speed, which is his greatest asset, very effectively. Even yesterday didn’t run away from a Geelong opponent - loped off and got pressured and, on another occasion, loped after his ball carrying opponent.

Not sure what’s going on - hamstring awareness, with his injury record, holding him back or a lack of stamina for repeat efforts or maybe not fully match fit for yesterdays game.

Such a tease.

Development year for the club/entire team, I meant.

I don’t think he was fully fit yesterday and still contributed.

He’s not consistent enough, that’s true. But he’s a project player and a latecomer to the game. He may not peak until he’s 27, but it’s a chance I’m willing to take.

I’m willing to die on this Petch hill haha.

His one goal was a brilliant crumbing effort, and he got two set shot opportunities from getting up and back which he should have converted.

For a small forward playing in a forward line that only got 10 entries a quarter, he was pretty reasonable I thought.
