Not doubting that. But it's worth remembering that he'd played a total of seven games as a KPD for us before this year, so that sample size is equally as small.

I'd love him to keep up the good form and allow us to throw Petty forward, but at the end of the day, he's undersized for a KPD and really slow (especially post-injury), so I'm wary of taking away a rock solid defender in Petty (who's big enough to take on the giant KPFs) and replacing him with Tommo.
The sample size of games Petty has played without the crutch of Lever and May to support him is equally small, though. He too got towelled up v Sydney. Petty’s intercepting game is excellent but I don’t know if I’d call him rock solid.

Tomlinson’s contested defensive loss percentage was 4% last year, compared to 41% last year. Petty was 27% last year, and 21 this year. I’m confident Tomlinson can find form again down back - and anyway the individual quality of our defenders is less important than the mix, which arguably has never been as good as it was at the start of last year, or even the start of this year, if we’re measuring in terms of stinginess of conceding scores from opposition I50s, when Tomlinson wa in the team.

If you’re not scoring, you’re getting scored against. Our backline functions well enough as a unit to make a sacrifice there to improve our forward line efficiency and prevent the opposition from rebounding so easily.

But anyway I think it’s moot - I think our front half crisis is being overblown in terms of personnel. Like last year it will either fix itself when our forward pressure goes up in finals/towards the end of the year and allows us to score from turnovers/clearances by producing better quality entries, or it won’t.

Thank god Toby McLean isn’t playing this week, would basically be game over if he was.

his career is basically over now they have said campaigners that drop their knees wont get frees 🤗

I am surprised anyone is surprised by the ins and outs . Goodwin is very predictable with his team selections I think .

I am surprised you think I am surprised by the lack of surprise selections.

Ill be back next week calling for Laurie to get a game dont worry. Ive come too far to give up now

Think I read we’ve used the least amount of players on the list (33) and dogs the most (39). Was a similar story last year. Goody taking tips from Ross Lyon and playing seasoned campaigners over youf.

Edit: WC have used 47 so maybe outside them.

We've used less players than the Dogs, but we've had less players all 17 games

Wouldn't be surprised if Tommo is a late in for Lever with Bedford as sub. Otherwise, yeah, makes sense to have Tommo as sub with Lever maybe a bit dodgy. Melksham solidifying his spot! Go get that premiership medal Milkshakes!
