Mitchell had to get a gig with the numbers he got last week.
Clurey unlucky, O'Shizenhauser very, very lucky.

Not sure what to say about Yonas's inclusion , or how the selectors could justify it, except that maybe his at least 12th ring kicking for the year may only be days away!

I think Mitchell in is fair enough. He's probably playing for his career this week.
He could play like shit for the next 4 weeks and Ken would still be keen to extend his contract for another 5 years.

Friendship determing selection. For some reason Mitchell and Sam Gray get treated so much more better then the other fringe and young players. That's gets me so angry

Clurey out is one of the worst decisions under this current regime. Could vent but who really cares - all I know is there are some very fortunate players suiting up come Saturday afternoon.

The ins and outs and a quick take on them :

In: Ah Chee - playing well, deserves a try but no sub please
Jonas - wasn't doing well before, not too great against North, why is he back after one SANFL game?
Krakouer - played well on his return, the crisp passer we need
Mitchell - again a good SANFL game but has to be sub to have any impact
Monfries - deserves to be called back up after he showed he is a level above SANFL, now needs to translate that to AFL.
Out: Clurey - beat Crameri and then Stringer, must be wondering what you have to do
Colquhoun - why was he sub last week? Had it tough when he came on but should have had a good run against GWS
Lobbe - has not set the world alight this year but was dropping a ruckman a good idea for this game? GWS have Lobb(205cm) and Phillips(202cm) and the commentators would have got tongue-tied when Lobb and Lobbe were rucking against each other.
Moore - has not taken his opportunity
Young - ditto

Tom Jonas stats from last two weeks: 20 disposals, 5 marks, 6 tackles
John Butcher stats from last two weeks: 25 disposals, 9 marks, 4 tackles

How can we justify selecting a player who is statistically being outworked by a forward-cum-defender we are actively pushing out of our club?

I reckon Butch will be a late in and play down back
Haha can only hope. He'll push up forward in the game of his life and kick ten. Give a middle finger salute to Scott Cummings

Tom Jonas: member of the Medium Rares.
John Butcher: NOT a member of the Medium Rares.

*wades through the goo*

What seems to be the problem? You're all losing your shit because some rookie who was pick 30+ doesn't get a debut game when our forward line hasn't functioned with the structure of three talls in Schulz/Ryder/Westhoff all year? Or is it the fact that we've given a young defender a taste of AFL level football - like we did with Jack Hombsch - and don't want him to pick up bad habits and think that the way our shit defenders have been playing is the way he should play? Oh wait...no...it's the fact that Kane Mitchell is getting a game over spuds like Moore and Young. Well, Mitchell may be a spud too, but at least he gives 100% effort, which is more than the other two can say.

Premierships are decided by more than just who plays what player in a particular position. Our problems this year are nothing to do with selection in terms of skill level. It's all to do with form and heart. If we don't turn it around with the players that get selected every week, we're not going to win anything with this squad, because they are ALL THERE IS. Playing Harvey isn't going to magically improve the running of players. It's not going to magically improve their decision making.

The only selection that is a bit odd is Jonas, but he's in our best 22 when in form and improves the rest of the back six, and he can't possibly qualify for SANFL finals so I don't have a problem with his inclusion. As others have said, we're going back to the 2014 structure and not the 2015 'let's play another key forward because that'll improve our side!!!!111!' rigid, glacial shit that we have been doing by not playing another tall. Imagine the side with the following changes:

Mitchell out for Wines
O'Shea out for Polec

And it's pretty much the 22 that lined up to play against Hawthorn in last year's prelim, with Ryder replacing Lobbe. Krakouer gets in ahead of Impey.

Not sure what you guys are actually wanting from the selection panel. We're supposed to be gunning for a flag with this list, not babysitting players and bringing them up to speed when they don't deserve it.
