Honestly what is the point? We will either get the draft pick and ship it off to Gold Coast or pick up a young talent with a future and never play them, whilst continuously playing playing spuds like Mitchell, O'Shea and Jonas

I bet you weren't calling jones a spud last year, he is not a spud out of form yes but not a spud

Can someone explain to me what Clurey was sent back to the SANFL to work on? Wasn't his kicking. Wasn't his defending, wasn't his running ability, wasn't his one percenters.

He was sent back to work on his AFL experience. Until he gets his AFL experience up, he won't be able to get regular games in our AFL side.

how can people turn on the hitman so quick. it's like they want him to play in the maggies forever now?
"so quick"

What did he do to warrant a call up let alone for Clurey who was probably definitely our best defender last game

I love Jonas - he's just in the worst form of his SANFL/AFL career.

Jonas - wasn't doing well before, not too great against North, why is he back after one SANFL game?

I assumed Jonas had a blinder at Prospect against the Poosters
Oh so you get what you don't deserve now
Sorry Ken for a self confessed gambler your stubbornness and or arrogance is showing
OShea is also getting what he doesn't deserve and Amon,Clurey are getting what they deserve.
GWS have some seriously tall players oh I get it Mitchell and Gray to take care of that
Neade to give Paddy a chop out in the ruck

Ps don't bother explaining it to us 'selection panel' we couldn't be bothered waiting for you to
negotiate those pesky revolving doors.
Just who is on the selection panel?

With Clurey, has anyone considered that perhaps the club wants to qualify him for the SANFL finals so he can further develop by leading the defence and taking the opposition key forward in the finals?

Good point, but SANFL flags are literally worth your namesake.

Sigh, I don't usually comment on selection but seriously 5 changes but no room for Frampton/Harvey and Palmer? Clurey dropped?

What seems to be the problem? You're all losing your shit because some rookie who was pick 30+ doesn't get a debut game when our forward line hasn't functioned with the structure of three talls in Schulz/Ryder/Westhoff all year? Or is it the fact that we've given a young defender a taste of AFL level football - like we did with Jack Hombsch - and don't want him to pick up bad habits and think that the way our shit defenders have been playing is the way he should play? Oh wait...no...it's the fact that Kane Mitchell is getting a game over spuds like Moore and Young. Well, Mitchell may be a spud too, but at least he gives 100% effort, which is more than the other two can say.

Premierships are decided by more than just who plays what player in a particular position. Our problems this year are nothing to do with selection in terms of skill level. It's all to do with form and heart. If we don't turn it around with the players that get selected every week, we're not going to win anything with this squad, because they are ALL THERE IS. Playing Harvey isn't going to magically improve the running of players. It's not going to magically improve their decision making.

The only selection that is a bit odd is Jonas, but he's in our best 22 when in form and improves the rest of the back six, and he can't possibly qualify for SANFL finals so I don't have a problem with his inclusion. As others have said, we're going back to the 2014 structure and not the 2015 'let's play another key forward because that'll improve our side!!!!111!' rigid, glacial shit that we have been doing by not playing another tall. Imagine the side with the following changes:

Mitchell out for Wines
O'Shea out for Polec

And it's pretty much the 22 that lined up to play against Hawthorn in last year's prelim, with Ryder replacing Lobbe. Krakouer gets in ahead of Impey.

Not sure what you guys are actually wanting from the selection panel. We're supposed to be gunning for a flag with this list, not babysitting players and bringing them up to speed when they don't deserve it.

So much wat

Just quoting this now so I remember it can pick it apart later when I'm in front of my computer.

Um yeah this is getting too ridiculous now. It was bad enough when it was just Butcher experts calling for his inclusion every week.

Harvey isn't demanding selection and Frampton is an 18yo first year anorexic ruck who just came back from an LTI mid-season. He's had a handful of good games and now people want to throw him to the wolves and dent his confidence.

If we pick up Dixon or another experienced key forward all this teeth gnashing will be moot anyway.

Sorry, but I disagree. There are still many of us that go to the SANFL weekly and want to see more SANFL flags and don't run down the SANFL as dominating a strong SANFL against quality opponents is why we won the AFL licence. One Port - winning the AFL and SANFL flags.

Um yeah this is getting ridiculous now. We don't have a natural key forward who has played 25 games and will be under 29 at the start of next season.

Okay.

Seriously baffling!
It is impossible to work out where Hinkley is at the moment with these decisions i can see us getting beaten again this weekend.
Im starting to seriously doubt that Ken is up to the task unless they are looking to be beaten for better picks come draft time. The bigger picture will reveal exactly where he is a genius or someone who is not up to it.

Butcher has played 24 games. Maybe he will be staying on the list after all...

I get that it's your thing but you don't have to throw glitter over everything.

Our forward line functioned incredibly powerfully when we actually worked in midfield and played the ruck lobbester in the ruck and Ryder forward. See: vs Hawthorn, Adelaide et al. I have to take five minutes to compose myself when thinking of our 2014 midfield with a 3 tall Ryder/Schulz/Roamhoff structure. The people are shitty because it has been incredibly well documented that we haven't done ****ing squat to develop a tall forward at AFL level. Don't give me that 'they're not breaking down the selection door!' shite because other clubs who recognise the importance of developing a tall in the AFL don't.

What a terrible argument against Clurey. Because we're playing bad he... shouldn't be exposed to it? Or something? Is that what you're saying? That is so bloody nonsensicle. Drop a young player who is setting an example for our more experienced defenders for a guy he clearly overtook, a player who has done absolutely nothing to suggest he's ready to come back to the 1s. Dropping Clurey is nothing short of a farce no matter how you dress it up.

Not a single person is suggesting Harvey in is going to propel our team into form. We want to play him because there hasn't been a more opportune time to gift a player games since we're in a bottomless pit. There is no way up this season. Key forwards are PROVEN to need AFL experience and now is the perfect time. What do we do? Select a bunch of fringe mids for a bunch of fringe mids. Incredible vision from the boys at the selection table.

The only selection that is a bit odd is Jonas, but he's in our best 22 when in form and improves the rest of the back six, and he can't possibly qualify for SANFL finals so I don't have a problem with his inclusion. Bringing up a guy who lost it to a degree I don't think I've ever seen in my relatively short footy watching time after a listless game in the reserves is not fine. What is even less fine is dropping an in form young key position player for this senior player. Gold pass to a freakin' tee.

News flash: We aren't gunning for a flag. Not for the next few weeks at least, while there's still footy to be played. Continuing with the same pointless selection policy of out-of-form fringe mid who wasn't had time to settle in the team for in-form fringe mid who is tearing up an inferior league to nobody's surprise whatsoever is pish. Pure schlock. Make something of this dead season.
