I have a feeling Vardy will be given a rest this week to bring Lycett in and see how he goes.

Gee they would be crazy to rest him this week against Ryder. Unfortunately we aren't in the position where we can rest our inform players and take a chance on Lycett just to come back in and dominate.

Believe me, I wouldn't do it but it is just a gut feeling.
I just think they will bring in Lycett and it won't be at Petrie's expense as he has already had enough time out with injury and is in our best handful of players atm.
Hopefully I just have a crook gut and Lycett will just have to keep pressing his case at EP.

Not having a go at the above views but Vardy hasn't been that good that he can't be dropped for a better No.1 ruckman (which Lycett is in my view). His last quarter last week was fantastic and got us over the line but the rest of his game was decent but not great. He has been good this year and improving but he isn't a No.1 ruck. I would also argue that Petrie's form as a forward ruck is better so if they drop someone for Lycett then it should probably be Vardy on form (although may play all three still) unless we are taking a longer term view that Vardy is the future and Petrie isn't. Heading deeper into the year, and assuming we make finals, we need games in Lycett at the top level, whose form in the WAFL has been good. We could wait another game for sure but eventually Lycett needs to be in the team at the expense of probably Vardy or Petrie.

Tough selection ask this week but if Partington doesn't get a gig its a shocking piece of player management in the context of the bye this week for East Perth (I'm not necessarily saying he should be selected this week though, just that its lousy management of the kid).

Definite ins:
Kennedy - because he's our bearded god and will make little bogan freckles pucker on the way to the top of the coleman leader board again.
Lycett - because he's the only tap ruckman we have available who can go toe to toe with Ryder. Moreover I get the feeling our midfield is just starting to find their feet and he needs to start working with them.
Priddis - because everyone in the club has said he is
Hurn - For one of Butler or Wellingham

Definite outs
Butler - inj
Wellingham - inj

Maybe outs
Masten - he's just no good we will never go deep into September with players who cannot physically impact the contest when it goes man on man as finals invariably do. We have many better options including young ones who are better currently and will be well into our future
Cripps - has been in horrible form for 5 weeks
Vardy - extremely unlucky but he'd be my choice out for Lycett and Lycett must play. Petrie offers more insurance up front if Kennedy breaks down early. Was great late last week but Petrie offered more for longer.
Petrie - not as good a ruck as Lycett but I dearly hope we keep him in. I cant believe he's 35 in a new state and team and bringing what he is to the table. He's also smart enough to fit into a Kennedy, Darling, Petrie forward line without cramping the style of the sainted bearded one. When this bloke eventually retires I hope he is celebrated as an eagle great for what he has done this year holding up his end of the bargain in a time of need.
Other musings
Partington - for the love of god we have 2-3 smallish players who are amongst our worst players every week and we refuse point blank to play a 20 year old with leather poisoning and a penitent for dobbing goals - wtf is with that?
Lecras - more talent in one fingernail than either of Cripps or Masten. I just hope he can get his body right.
Redden - could come out for Priddis
Nelson - could come in for either Wellingham or Butler
Schofield - would be a lousy call to bring in another tall defender in the wet but then again Jetta for Brown

Having a crack at tomorrow's announcement

In: Kennedy, Hurn, Priddis, Lycett, Nelson
Out: Butler (inj), Wellingham (inj)

B: Hurn, MacKenzie, Sheppard
HB: Yeo, McGovern, Duggan
C: Gaff, Mitchell, Jetta
HF: Sheed, Darling, Hutchings
F: Cripps, Kennedy, Karpany
R: Vardy, Shuey, Priddis
I: Petrie, Lycett, Cole, Barrass, Nelson, Masten, Redden

Extended bench keeps their options open with Petrie or Lycett to partner Vardy, two of Barrass/Cole/Nelson to play in defence and one of Masten/Redden to make way for Priddis.

Guessing Petrie, Nelson and Masten to be the guys who miss out. Makes us pretty tall down back but the Power have a reasonably tall forward setup and as we all know MacKenzie can play small ;)

Also makes us quite inside-heavy in the midfield, of course.

LeCras will officially not have overcome his hip injury, since he wouldn't be lining up for East Perth anyway. No room for Schoey or Hill either.

If schofield is In tomorrow I will shit a brick!

Has been rubbish in all the games he has played this year!
Often gets beaten 1 on 1 and can only manage a handful of possessions per game!
Needs to be traded at Years end

Help us - the one on the left or the right. We need to know whether it is worthwhile contacting the club. Would be worthwhile watching - provided you follow through on teh promise.

The ones on the right are significantly stronger when building a house. If and when any of you build a house make sure to go with a builder that uses normal sized rather than double height bricks.

Why are people saying Lycett has to come in? I knkw he has been tearing it up in the WAFL, but has he really shown enoiugh at AFL level to be an automatic in and replace somone that has been playing well.

Because he's a better number 1 ruck than Vardy, who got monstered by Ryder last time. I don't want to see either Vardy or Pertrie come out of the side but you'd think one of the two would likely be an omission tomorrow with JK coming back too. Don't underrate Scotty.

Better number one ruck based on? So Vards got destroyed by a man in career best form. What makes anyone think that Lycett will do any better first up?

Butler out for Nelson
Wellingham out for Hurn
Masten out for JK ( bit weird height wise but hey!)

Well done Karpany and Vardy last week.

Anyone out for Partington. I don't care. Home game we will probably win. Play him. Play him. Make the fans happy and introduce him on an appropriate occasion Like all the rest of you guys I somehow doubt the MC has the creative flair to play a gun WAFL youngster. Next year maybe.

Probably this, extended bench so annoying.

**** Hurn, i don't want him back. His form certainly doesn't warrant it.

Let Shuey lead this ship now you hairy campaigner.

No way this week. Not sure if his form warrants dropping thought. I think his visible on-field leadership has been down so not the captain I expected.

The strongly led clubs are using Leading Teams but we use the Nisbett Model. Pity

Hard decision to make but I wouldn't bring Lycett in Petrie and Vardy are playing too well and Lycett IMO wouldn't make any difference , it's happened before Lycetts come in from east Perth got comfortable in the Eagles and then taken the foot off the pedal , if you were to drop Petrie now he may lose any momentum he's had , so I would keep Lycett at Ep

I don't see much wrong with this team at all It's gonna be a tough call this week but it's gonna come down to Match ups,I see Masten would go straight away I think he's done IMO just piss weak tackles and too many turn overs and Redden did well last week
I think the ins would be. - Hurn Priddis Kennedy Schoey Nelson
outs would be - Masten Cole Barass Butler
I'm no sure about Barrass he looks to have beefed up a little too much to me and has lost a yard of pace in doing so
I couldn't drop Petrie or Vardy on form so Lycett to play Ep and the same with Lecras he needs to get a bit hungry and maybe Jetta forward I think he has more goal kicking potential than Hutch

Your guess is very close to mine, but I think (probably more hope) that Nelson will play.
Looking forward to seeing Lycett play. Vardy has been brilliant especially around the ground, but in ruck taps he has been smashed.
Our mids have done incredibly well considering the dominance of the opposition ruckman at centre bounces. Looking forward to seeing Vardy spend more time up forward, such a strong a mark and good shot on goal, could really be a nightmare for opposition backlines having Kennedy, Vardy and Darling all firing.
Sundays game should be a cracker.
Carn Eagles!!!

Match committee:

Out: wellingham (inj), butler (inj), karpany, cole, duggan

In: jk, priddis, lecras, lycett, hurn.

Cos the same old recycle from selectors.

What is needed but wont happen:

Out: wellingham, butler, cole, masten.

In: hurn, parto, lycett, jk.

If lycett is in, then jd plays more up the ground and petrie as two pronged forward with jk. Vardy and lycett to share ruck duties. Gov to backline.

In: Hurn Kennedy Lycett Priddis LeCras
Out: Wellingham Mackenzie Vardy Redden Butler
6 changes possibly too many after a win and only 2 injuries, but you could see them trying to find room for Pridda and Lecca. Masto a chance to be dropped, but not sure if they'd drop him again after only 1 game back. Vardy and Emac unlucky obviously, but one ruck and KPD likely to be dropped. Could be Petrie or Barrass instead.
Hoping for this though.
In: Hurn Kennedy Lycett Partington Nelson
Out: Wellingham Mackenzie Vardy Masten Butler
