I legit think that kicking a low flat ball bouncing/tumbling ball into our 50 at high speed might be our best option of attack.
CHAOS-ball.
Didn't PA use that with success against WCE before WCE were garbage, to nullify their talls in defence and give their smalls a better chance?
Or was that Richmond?

Nicks: "We still have a lot of confidence in the way we play, the brand of footy we play,” Nicks said.

“We’ve got to improve our skills and improve our forward-centre work." (from AFC site)

Seriously, what the actual ...? I don't even know where to start with that rubbish.
Yeah but no one else does.

Brand of footy? Someone needs to let Nicks know that shit isn't a brand.

If our forwards continue just standing still and demanding the ball be bombed in long, then it probably would be. Maybe it will bounce nicely for Rankine or Walker to work off their opponents and kick a goal or two.

However, instead of that, perhaps they could try, you know, moving a bit? Creating space for each other? Leading? And then our midfields might actually have someone to kick to!

Just a thought.

Apparently needed Rahilly to remind them constantly of how to play, now he's gone - we are lost?

This is deliberate strategy and we used it a fair bit in 21 and 22. It's designed to minimise the danage dine on turnover. A turnover on the 50 is much harder to defend than in a pocket 15m from goal. Don't blame the forwards for remaining deep, that's exactly where they're meant to be.

The players have switched off. The group hugs are a thing of the past.

Would have been a better option than kicking it to Stewart, Pearce & Lever consistently...

It's absolutely clearly we need rebranding.

When Milera’s injury was revealed I thought, ‘as long as its not Parnell or Hamill that comes in’. Turns out it was both

When Milera was injured, we should have been looking for a long-term replacement not a stop gap.

With respect, I'm not sure what "rebranding" means. (Later, edit: sorry, i get it)

I was remarking on the obvious contradiction between:
"We still have a lot of confidence in the way we play"
and
We’ve got to improve our skills".

If anything, they play without confidence because their basic skills and execution are poor. It troubles me immensely that Nicks does not see that.

I posted after the Geelong loss about how well the Cats forwards created room for Hawkins (and each other) to lead into. They've been well-coached, drilled, to do that.
Nicks needed to school our defenders (or maybe mids running back) to drop into that hole and plug it up, but no.

Stewart took 10 marks that day; I'd say at least 4 were uncontested intercepts because:
--- he reads the ball coming in so well, and
--- nobody picked him up, and
--- our blokes bombed the ball onto his chest! :madv1:
Those last 2 issues are on Nicks.
