Prediction Changes vs Dees round 19

Who’s their 5 centre half backs?

They do play tall with, Henderson, Kolijasni, Henry, Stewart, Blicavs.

But it's different to the weird tall forward structure we have. Never thought I'd ever see the day that Astro, Bruce, JUH and Schache were all in the same team.

Yet here we are.

This is all going to one massive decoy and Cody will iso one out as the deepest forward.

Hahahahaha!!!!

Dees are slow in defence and only Salem has decent speed. IF we were ever to try 5 tallish forwards, it would be against the Dees slower back line.

Expect us to try and kick to forward via marking through the midfield. Very left field instead of copying Hawks crappy deliberately horrible long kicks into the forward half.

Perhaps we will make lots of late changes…. OR at least get the Dees to worry about our serious marking power forward.
I'm sorry but what?

I came over here for a look on what your guys thoughts were on playing such a tall forward line, but I couldn't help myself replying to this.

Salem is slow as shit. But we have rivers and hunt who are both extremely quick. Not to mention Hibberd who is no slouch. Bizarre post man!

Charlie Bucket

I'm interested in your opinion of the changes this week and what you think Bevo's plan is?

...and don't give me 'I have faith in Bevo because we've only lost four games' I'd hate to accuse you of being a lazy poster going with the same stupid rhetoric

;)

Cheers

Perfect timing Wock, I just came in here to post.

I see what the coaches are potentially trying to achieve. We got torn apart last time by two of the best defenders in the comp. one is strong third man up and also 1v1, the other is probably the best third in defender in the comp.
I think the coaches are trying to create more accountability for those two by playing more marking targets inside our attacking half. If they structure up correctly, having the extra tall marking options will make it hard for May and Lever to peel off and assist Other aerial contests.

It creates more work for our other Small to medium fwds and relies on hard two way running from our mids, but as long as gh whole 22 or close enough to, work hard enough, I cant see the extra tall being an issue at all.

I don’t think our system will change much at all except the fwd structure and how we execute in our fwd half.

I could be completely wrong though and we see something like Naughts lining up in defence or something wild like that.

Interesting selections, but thinking about how the game played out last time, I can see why they’ve gone the extra tall.

Good enough for you Wock or you want diagrams written up on a white board?

100% agree mate. I've tried to engage a couple of times with this rhetoric to to try find out exactly how Bevo was outcoached, but I can't say much in the way of analysis or reasoning has ever been provided. I would actually love to engage in that realm as Mutt has described but unfortunately there's often no real substance behind the claim. Other times it's been evident that those making the claim haven't watched the game in person which makes it very hard to have any real discussion on match day strategies.

Spot on. Well said, better than me.

Enjoy both your posting. Look forward to reading more composed, well thought through game analysis this sat night/Sunday morning. Hopefully it’s on the back of a good win!!

I am looking fwd to it. I am actually fine with him experimenting a little but we need to settle the lineup for the last 3 rounds. Let’s remember come September the opposition will not get the ball when dunks and Adz is back.

if This does fail I hope Bevo accepts the blame for this left field option but I am hoping it works out and it becomes one of his genius moves.

So? Defenders are not forwards, they don't need to mark the ball to do their job. Also, guys like Tom Stewart and Jack Henry are more than competent at ground level, while we're carrying Hannan and Schache, who are both poor in the air and ground level.

2nd ruck? Did you watch the Geelong game last year were we coughed up a 38 point quarter time lead? He was playing as the #1 ruck for most of the game. Geelong generated multiple goals directly from hitouts to advantage that game. The coach rationalized it by saying "well, it doesn't matter who we put there, we're going to get beaten anyway, might as well have an extra midfielder".

Is this directly related to this week's selections? No, the point I was making is that Beveridge refuses to accept footballing philosophies that work, and instead opts for stupid matchday decisions that consistently don't work.

He's actually a dud coach. I credit the success of the team this year to the list managers, particularly those in charge of drafting youth since 2012.
Of course I recall the Geelong game. From quarter time onwards we were smashed all over the ground. Geelong’s tall backs particularly important, all 5 of them. I already said I didn’t agree with Dunks playing 2nd ruck last year. I referred to it as 2nd ruck, as that’s what it was. You can’t seriously say he was picked in the lead up to games to play the first ruck role?

Anyway, let’s hope for a win Saturday night hey?

**** me dead. This you again Antares??

To be fair, last week we had 3 talls and on occasions still had Weightman flying as our target. I went into the game thinking they’d be bringing everything to ground, but on accessions Naughton and Bruce were nowhere near where we kicked it and GC were able to intercept (May + Lever would’ve had more)

Perhaps the experiment last week showed Bevo that to beat the dees, 4 forwards were required, though Weightman should not be flying for mark of the year and rather crumb this time

Whether Schache plays defence or someone else does I’m not sure, you’d think it’s very very likely someone does though. But Schache might not be the worst option against May and Lever, say what you will about the bloke and I’ve almost given up too but he’s still probably one of our smarter forwards. He could be in to split their defence and lead one of the talls away from the main men. That’s not exactly Bruce, Naughty or JUHs main strength. If they don’t pay him any attention then we hit him up when he gets free and he makes you pay.

Idk could work. I think he’s going to either play very very high or as a floating defender too.

It’s different. The line up is different. We need different this week. It’s hard to see for us but Bev knows we need this win, it might pay off it might look dumb as **** I dunno. All I know is I am even bloody keener for this game now to see how it plays out

This probably says more about Weightman and his over exuberance at times.
