Prediction Changes vs Dees round 19

To be fair, last week we had 3 talls and on occasions still had Weightman flying as our target. I went into the game thinking they’d be bringing everything to ground, but on accessions Naughton and Bruce were nowhere near where we kicked it and GC were able to intercept (May + Lever would’ve had more)

Perhaps the experiment last week showed Bevo that to beat the dees, 4 forwards were required, though Weightman should not be flying for mark of the year and rather crumb this time
I thought the same, there was no one available to push up high to the kick out of the back/half back line. JUH is not strong enough to be one out against May/Lever which is what will happen once Bruce goes into the ruck.

Semi long time poster who regularly starts new accounts after being perma banned. Antares was one of his earlier ones. I reckon there’s been almost 10 new accounts since. Usually only takes half a day for the mods to catch on and toss him out. His posting is fairly consistent.

Wow, didn’t see that coming. Pretty disappointed actually and can’t see the basis for selecting Hannan or Schache.

Where is Schache going to play?? Down back!? Surely we are too tall forward.

Spin it anyway we like but with rain predicted these are god awful sections.

Hannan has done absolutely zero to merit another chance to do nothing and Scaches last two senior games have been in the worst ten games by anyone in AFL history.

We didn’t not get beat by Lever and May last time it was our midfield and half backs absolute lack of impact and turnovers.

Going tall to counter Lever and May on a dry day May be a tactical opportunity but on a wet night is unexplainable

Ryan Gardner is thoroughly enjoying not being the whipping boy anymore.

Perfect timing Wock, I just came in here to post.

I see what the coaches are potentially trying to achieve. We got torn apart last time by two of the best defenders in the comp. one is strong third man up and also 1v1, the other is probably the best third in defender in the comp.
I think the coaches are trying to create more accountability for those two by playing more marking targets inside our attacking half. If they structure up correctly, having the extra tall marking options will make it hard for May and Lever to peel off and assist Other aerial contests.

It creates more work for our other Small to medium fwds and relies on hard two way running from our mids, but as long as gh whole 22 or close enough to, work hard enough, I cant see the extra tall being an issue at all.

I don’t think our system will change much at all except the fwd structure and how we execute in our fwd half.

I could be completely wrong though and we see something like Naughts lining up in defence or something wild like that.

Interesting selections, but thinking about how the game played out last time, I can see why they’ve gone the extra tall.

Good enough for you Wock or you want diagrams written up on a white board?

We know the Melbourne defenders won't follow us too far up the ground so my concern is our forward line will be way too crowded. IMO the forward press does not suit our current personnel.

I think we'll work a lot harder for our goals and Melbourne will get quite a few easy 'out the back' goals.

I'm worried that Gawn will have a big scoreboard impact as he'll have a lot of space to run into.

....and it's no surprise you have a whiteboard. You've always struck me as a crayon eater. :shoutyoldman:

I'm sorry but what?

I came over here for a look on what your guys thoughts were on playing such a tall forward line, but I couldn't help myself replying to this.

Salem is slow as sh*t. But we have rivers and hunt who are both extremely quick. Not to mention Hibberd who is no slouch. Bizarre post man!

Ah Grimesy,
I new someone from the Dees would pick that up.

Let me put together the likely match ups:
Naughton -May
Bruce -Petty
JUH -Rivers/Hunt
Hannan -Lever/Hibberd
Weightman -Rivers/Hunt
Schache -Lever/Hibberd

None of those Dees players can out run their opponent. None.

Happy for you to change the match ups. Who plays on whom?

I’m very interested in the Schache inclusion- hopefully he has a good game.

You know what would be even more left field, MAYBE Hannan is the one who plays back. Replacing Crozier. Late season Bailey Dale move.

One positive if we don’t even know how we’ll line up the opposition certainly won’t.

Disappointed for McNeil.

Doesn‘t take a Mensa graduate/Pieman winner to know you can’t use a crayon on a whiteboard, Wocka. Come on Mate, switch on.

Id be very surprised to see us not work hard for our goals and for the opposition to not score easy goals out the back. It’s been our meat and 3 veg for most of the season.

As for the tall line up, I reckon we should see how it plays out. You don‘t make MC decisions like these unless it’s been a pretty productive few hours behind closed doors on a Thursday night.
