I thought the same, there was no one available to push up high to the kick out of the back/half back line. JUH is not strong enough to be one out against May/Lever which is what will happen once Bruce goes into the ruck.To be fair, last week we had 3 talls and on occasions still had Weightman flying as our target. I went into the game thinking they’d be bringing everything to ground, but on accessions Naughton and Bruce were nowhere near where we kicked it and GC were able to intercept (May + Lever would’ve had more)
Perhaps the experiment last week showed Bevo that to beat the dees, 4 forwards were required, though Weightman should not be flying for mark of the year and rather crumb this time
Antares?
Problem is, he flies too. When we get the ball into our 50, everyone bloody flies for the mark, when is Ash Hansen gonna tell one of them to stay down? Been a problem for years nowAs long as Cody’s waiting out the back for the easy run into goal.
With the last Chance Saloon open for business you would think that there will be some motivated incoming troopsThese changes are awful. I love it. We always play best with the worst team selections
I was initially concerned but took a look at the team sheet through my 3D IMAX glasses and it all made sense.Hardly any melting over the last 3 pages, good work guys!!!
Perfect timing Wock, I just came in here to post.
I see what the coaches are potentially trying to achieve. We got torn apart last time by two of the best defenders in the comp. one is strong third man up and also 1v1, the other is probably the best third in defender in the comp.
I think the coaches are trying to create more accountability for those two by playing more marking targets inside our attacking half. If they structure up correctly, having the extra tall marking options will make it hard for May and Lever to peel off and assist Other aerial contests.
It creates more work for our other Small to medium fwds and relies on hard two way running from our mids, but as long as gh whole 22 or close enough to, work hard enough, I cant see the extra tall being an issue at all.
I don’t think our system will change much at all except the fwd structure and how we execute in our fwd half.
I could be completely wrong though and we see something like Naughts lining up in defence or something wild like that.
Interesting selections, but thinking about how the game played out last time, I can see why they’ve gone the extra tall.
Good enough for you Wock or you want diagrams written up on a white board?
I'm sorry but what?
I came over here for a look on what your guys thoughts were on playing such a tall forward line, but I couldn't help myself replying to this.
Salem is slow as sh*t. But we have rivers and hunt who are both extremely quick. Not to mention Hibberd who is no slouch. Bizarre post man!
We know the Melbourne defenders won't follow us too far up the ground so my concern is our forward line will be way too crowded. IMO the forward press does not suit our current personnel.
I think we'll work a lot harder for our goals and Melbourne will get quite a few easy 'out the back' goals.
I'm worried that Gawn will have a big scoreboard impact as he'll have a lot of space to run into.
....and it's no surprise you have a whiteboard. You've always struck me as a crayon eater.
You now have a whiteboard because you ate your crayons. Keep up will ya.Doesn‘t take a Mensa graduate/Pieman winner to know you can’t use a crayon on a whiteboard, Wocka. Come on Mate, switch on.
