Out: Malthouse, REID, Anthony, Johnson (inj)
In: Buckley, O'Bree, Presti, Dawes,(or wish list Rusling)

What a shame of yet another example of poor selection, Kinnear, sorry Reid just won't make the grade. Why not place Brown on the back line and put Reid up forward, his lack of awareness just put pressure on our back six especially evident when Johnno went of after collecting 14 possesions. Really affected theteam balance.

Anthony draws the best opposition defender, tackles, and has still kicked 3 goals in 2 matches. That said, he was rather shit today.
Look im not sure what the stats say, but jack is lazier then cloke on the chance and his tackles are more limp wristed then clokes as well

Both were terrible today though

Reid showed promise. He'll get killed against the Saints, but he showed enough to say we can persist with him.

If Cloke isn't dropped soon, I'll be fuming. Something needs to give with the guy, he has been pathetic for well over a year now. Excuses are running out.

The only reason for Cloke's tackles being stronger, is because he lets his man lead him to the ball, then tries to crunch him in a show of bravado. Then proceeds to get outmarked by men 10cm and 15kg lighter than him.

Jack is lazier than Cloke circa 2006/07, but chases much better than Cloke of '10, even if his tackles don't always stick.

But yes, both terrible today.

May I ask what everybody has against Brent Macaffer?
Was supposedly poor/quiet in the VFL today.

JMac on the other hand kicked 4 and played well from what i hear

Any idea where he was played, Opti?
No mate

I was aiming to meet a mate up there, but being in rosebud this weekend and being a wog family at easter couldnt get there for both just the seniors lmao.

From what i understood he was HFF/HBF middle and did very little but im not sure

outs - anthony, johnson, thomas, fraser

ins - dawes, obree, n. brown, mcarthy

play brown as a backup ruck to jolly, give him a crack!

piss thomas and fraser off, and give them a ticket on jetstars friday frenzy to gold coast!
Piss off! He was one of our best! I was at the match and he was fantastic!

You don't know what you're on about!

You're right both are underperforming and its disappointing. As for why one and not the other, for me its because Anthony seems to be doing closer to what he should be. He's crashing packs, providing a target, chasing, tackling and a better kick for goal. Cloke is more experienced as well so he should be performing better. He's a big unit, yet shows little physical aggression or presence around the ground. A very unreliable kick for goal, which is a concern because we need big game players to take us far in September. I haven't looked at any stats or anything, but I'd expect that Cloke's are better because he plays further up the ground and Anthony is down deep. So thats my reasoning mate.

Out:
Johnson (Inj)- Self explanatory
Reid - Will be murdered against the Saints next week, didn't see much in him today.
Davis/Didak - Piss one of these two off, can't afford players soft players against a physical Saints team. For the better part of 8-10 years these two have shown that they'll avoid a contest if they can help it, I'd say drop Sidey but at least he'll have a dip.

So we have to earn a win over a lowly side, while the saints game is over at quarter time.

Contrasting preparations for next Friday.

I'll back us in for a pretty good performance.

I think that it'll be interesting to see if Shaw plays next week.

He went off for some work on his groin, and I don't remember seeing much dash from him today, as usually hes our most urgent player.

The playing Cloke into form approach doesn't appear to be working yet, but isn't it too early to drop him? Our forward 50 looked fairly empty a few times today - it's just not working. Trav and Jack must be driving Buckley nuts.
and rocca lol.

I thought cloke kicked pretty good today. what was his scoreline?

Not looking forward to next week after watching Roo tonight. Don't know how we will stop him kicking a bag of goals.

Generally I would agree that two rounds is too early to drop a regular player but in Clokes case I would make an exception. It hasn't been just two games - he has gone backwards since 2007.
Coaches mustn't have much faith in Dawes if he isn't picked next week because currently our big forwards are giving us nothing.
