I still haven't seen one! I have found plenty of lyrebird feathers on the 1,000 steps in the Dandenong Ranges, but haven't seen the bird yet!

Now this is a great example of living in the gains
Sometimes it's like that. The harder you look the harder they seem to hide.
It took me forever to see a wombat in the wild and I had been to all the hotspots. Cradle Mountain, NW coast of Tasmania, Wilsons Prom, Vic high country etc but could not find one to save my life. Then one day I was absentmindedly trudging about the Dandenong ranges looking (unsuccessfully) for lyrebirds and suddenly a wombat walks across the path in front of me an starts munching away on some grass.
The best luck I've had spotting lyrebirds in the Dandenongs is around Sherbrooke falls
I'm scared.

I've lived in the Dandenong Ranges since 2022 and I haven't seen a Lyrebird yet!
Took me ages to see a wombat, then I came home one day and one was sleeping under the stairs leading to my front door. Cute little wobbly dude, got spooked when he woke up and waddled off to the neighbours house.
