Changing the Original Lions Guernsey/Clash Jumper Discussion

The most important thing is that horrible monstrosity of a jumper is gone, can't wait to see the new one. On another note, was there any mention in the recent members forum of playing one game a year in each of the Bears & Fitzroy jumpers? I used to love the heritage round for that. We are a very unique club, and even though I was originally a Bears fan there was nothing I enjoyed more than watching the guys run around in the Fitzroy jumper. I know they change the colours on the jumper to match the 80's Fitzroy scheme when we play in Vic but it's not quite as good.

Totally.

And what did the AFL do/allow the new franchise to do?

Use colors similar to the existing.
Pick a mascot that doesn't mean anything much.

For some reason I believe that expansion teams have been banned from using animal names since the Crows came into the league. Not exactly sure why but I think the marketing people thought it would be more modern and snazzy to have other mascots. Mostly they just sound stupid though. It's even worse in rugby and cricket though where you don't even know where the teams are from unless you're an absolute fan.

Not sure that's correct - GWS had Stallions (AFL suggested) and Wolves (fan suggested) on the cards before going with Giants.

Pretty sure the Lions became the entire league's example of how not to handle a jumper debate.
Think that should be "debate" - a debate normally requires dialogue between all parties before a conclusion is reached.

As an old Fitzroy man, my bias tells me we should wear this in all games where there is no clash.

Don't mind the other one though, but this is my preferred option by far!

I wish we could wear the

Nothing wrong with honoring fitzroy, but let's not go that far. We are the Brisbane lions, remember. And the majority of our fanbase is from brisbane. So let's just keep things the way they are.

With simba's gay nephew on our jumper?

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt but I'm pretty sure he meant the incoming jumper rather than ****ing around with it more.
