Re: Channel 7 apology

they already were named and shamed but the injunction stop it from goin further, so whats your point?

no one knows what other clubs were on those documents and there is more than 1 melbourne base football club...

just becuase they named 1 club, they never got a chance to name others...

so if you want to name and shame be ready to be ashamed...
oh please.

did you read Mike Sheahan's article from a couple of days ago?

many people have been suspicious about this club in previous. not really the same with the other Victorian based teams.

Re: Channel 7 apology

Oh my F***kin God.

THAT'S channel seven's counter punch?

Sack the scapegoat that hold the most junior position in the company despite the fact that the story would have had to be signed off by one or more senior people before going to air!!!!!!

That is so weak!

They've ruined a couple of players reputations and take it out on some first floor shmuck.

hang on.

haven't the players themselves ruined their own reputations?

unless Channel Seven forcefully did you know what, then the only blame lies with the players invovled.

it's a choice to do such in the first instance. choice's define you as a person.
at the end of it, the people disgraced are the players involved, their club and the AFL as a brand.

this is fact. choose to argue it if you will.

Re: Channel 7 apology

"finding it funny" well it isn't funny. Is it some other emotion you're affected with?

^it's not the issue of privacy being exploited that i find funny, but moreso the fact that 7 is finally getting ****ed over for being unethical, when in the past they've really never been punished for it. 7 & 9 are most likely as bad as each other, it's just that 7 has been ten times worse at hiding it this year

So your saying its ok to have medical records stolen and published? Or are you just an ignorant fool? How about we get your medical records? What would it show? A dangerously low IQ???

Your own club is suggesting a boycott against Channel 7 interviews because they know how inappropriate this has been. You are truly a low life d**sh**

Because he doesn't share your views you resort to name calling. That doesn't win allies.

Why are you getting so defensive?

I'm not advocating anything re; the medical records being stolen.

If these players are brainless enough to disrespect the game by doing such stupid things then they should be publicly shamed. There's no reason why they shouldn't be.

The AFL's policy when it comes to drugs is a joke.

Sweeping stuff under the carpet and allowing unlimited offences (or what seems like) is ridiculous. Tougher penalties need to be imposed. These players should be banned from playing until they've shown proper rehab.

Re: Channel 7 apology

Geez I really feel sorry for other Collingwood supporters having to read your cr*p. A disgrace
What is your objection to what I'm saying?

You think these players should be continued to be seen as role models?
After one strike, players should be named.

This three strikes business is pathetic. And allows these weak individuals who turn to drugs an escape from reality/public judgement. I don't like this.
They are giving AFL football a bad name (whether you like it or not).

Re: Channel 7 apology

hang on.

They are still entitled to the most basic principle of privacy. Unlike Cousins, whom the club virtually outed, the named players should still expect any medical records to remain private

unless Channel Seven forcefully did you know what, then the only blame lies with the players invovled.

Ch7 should have known better than to even contemplate disclosing medical records.

it's a choice to do such in the first instance. choice's define you as a person.

It doesnt mean that it needs to be disclosed by the media. It really is a matter between the club, the players and the AFL. Until the players, the club or the AFL choose to disclose it, then it should remain confidential.

at the end of it, the people disgraced are the players involved, their club and the AFL as a brand.

They may have done the wrong thing, but does everyone who does the wrong thing have it disclosed publicly? There is a mechanism in place to deal with this situation and it needs to go its intended course, which doesnt include public disclosure so early on in the process.

this is fact. choose to argue it if you will.

My arguments are also fact and common sense.

if thats how you feel then good luck to ya

cant be botherd waisting my time with people who think crucifing poeple by having their medical history painted all over australia ,....

Two seperate things. Now you are bringing up the AFL's drug policy which is different to the privacy breach. Given the way that the players medical records were communicated to a national audience, don't you think that the team involved has suffered enough embaressment let alone the AFL as an institution? Trust me, if this happened to Collingwood I would be just as p$$d.

Re: Channel 7 apology

And why would I want an ally from someone who condones breaches of privacy? You are mighty righteous.
haha. you're making up things. and getting abusive at the same time.

my point is, these players should be publicly named after one strike. if it was up to me, they'd be shipped off somewhere, unable to play until proper rehab was shown/proven. there's no reason why they should retain their place in AFL football. A fantastic league, game and spectacle which doesn't need such influences/people.

it's a pathetic joke that such drug users are allowed to play AFL football, with their actions unbeknown to everyone bar the team doctor. great.

Channel Seven have acted unlawfully. no denying that.

Tim Lane?

haha. I've read his articles..... they're rubbish.

he didn't go public because he would've known the consequences in doing so.

Channel Seven also have > resources than little, old Tim Lane.

Re: Channel 7 apology

I'm not meaning having him as an ally I mean even minded people who listen to both sides and draw their own conclusion.

Ok so Didak is a role model? Why didnt your club tell him where to go? Mind you, Didak's privacy wasnt breached was it? Stick to the topic. If your privacy was breached how would you feel? Pretty cr*p I would assume. Thats probably how these players are feeling. If you think thats ok you have issues.

except that reason that its their private business and none of yours OR the AFLs OR channel 7s. you should perhaps think about getting your ****ing snout out of other peoples lives.

the players should refuse to submit to testing for rec drugs en mass. if the information cant be kept secret, then i see no reason why they should even allow that information to be collected.

And Channel Seven DIDN'T know the consequences of going public!

I want whatever it is that you're smoking! NOT!!

BTW, in my job I work with medical records all the time - and if I so much as THOUGHT about disclosing that information without the third party's authority, I'd have my arse kicked all the way to Darwin & back.

Leave outside off stump, forward defence, duck, fend off, forward defence, leave outside off stump.

these supporters should be disgusted with the players involved. but of course, they're role models who can do no wrong.

they don't deserve any status. come out, admit the problem and be upfront with the fans who give up much of their hard earned on a yearly basis. no matter how minute, this stuff affects performance. it's certainly a long way from retaining maximum condition.

I'm sure the supporters of the club invovled were cheering these players (as per normal) on the weekend when they really should've been questioning these individuals who have (whether people like it or not) disrespected their club, it's purpose and the history of it.

I don't agree.

Channel Seven are in the wrong.

The players invovled have no reason to feel sorry for themselves or angry with others.

They've gotten themselves into this mess.

Re: Channel 7 apology

they have, throught their union they agreed to allow drug tests for illicit drugs to be done.

hopefully they will rectify this soon and withdraw their approval of this bullshit invasion of privacy

Re: Channel 7 apology

and another note.

the names of the players were never published.

I've seen a list (through a late night post on here) and although not surprising (the names listed), I have no verification those details were correct.

Most people wouldn't have a clue. > 99% of football fans. Easily.
been reading all your crap ! you are a loser you dont know sh**t about the reality of real life...how would you like it if your private medical records stating that you have cancer or some sort of desease and aked doctors for ptivacy and not even your parants know, but then your reports were stolen then sold to chanel 7 where they published it live on TV, maybe you should think about how this affects the players family, friend, chidren etc etc which can also lead to suicide..( I know 1st hand what it feels like before you say anything stupid !! ) .this is far far beyond the use of drugs, this is invading a persons private space in an unethical, illegal way..
I advise you to grow up
Like another post siad
If you live in a glass house you shouldnt throw stones !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Channel 7 apology

why is it that most posters kicking up a storm over this support the same club?

defensive. defensive. defensive.

when instead they should be disgusted with the players involved. but of course, they're heroes who can do no wrong.

they don't deserve their status as role models.

I'm sure the supporters of the club invovled were cheering these players (as per normal) on the weekend when they really should've been heckling/abusing these individuals who have (whether people like it or not) disrespected their club, it's purpose and the history of it.

My oath I'm getting defensive!

What you fail to realise here is that IF Channel 7 had actually decided to do some background work instead of going hell for leather to "name & shame", no-one would be any the wiser as to the name of the club concerned.

You cannot tell me that there is not at least one player who has tested positive in every AFL club in the country.

And here you are, getting all self-righteous and abusive to Hawthorn supporters who are effectively calling your bluff on this matter.
