Club want Chapman to play 4 week blocks. That's the idea floating around.

They're not expecting 22 games out of him, they know if they can manage Chapman well, and he plays well himself, they may possibly get 2 really good years out of him.

So Chapman would play 4 weeks, get a week off, rinse and repeat. That's the idea, gives Coburg players the chance to get some senior experience and if they prove themselves, the club won't hesitate to give Chappy an extra week off.

Interesting. Do you have a source for this? Cos if you've heard id from someone at the club that pretty much confirms our interest officially if we've gone as far as planning how we'd manage him...

Love it! Make it happen Tiges! Then coach of our VFL after he retires!

I really dont understand why ANY team in the AFL wouldnt want him?
Been trying to hold my excitement and keeping a lid on it so I wont get let down if he retires.. Would be such a bonus! for him to teach everyone in the footy club about winning culture. Would slaughter opposition defenders and help out Riewoldt Martin and Vickery

The guy is 32 and struggled with hamstring injuries all year. Yes he would be an upgrade on Nahas but who's spot in the 22 does he take?

Reluctant NO from me.

I'm with you strauchy. Blows my mind.
It's still the same bloke who tore port a new one in a final 3 weeks ago isn't it?
That bloke who's kicking is as at the very high end of elite?
Is that him?
I don't even think its a risk if he plays one game then breaks down.
The reward far outweighs the risk.
How can adding Paul Chapman to your list with a specific role in mind do anything other than improve your list, depth, knowledge ... Everything.
I thought he was gone 18 months ago but he is playing better now than he was then even.

It's not as though it'll be at anyone's expense and whitey is off anyway.
Out whitey, in chappy.
Do it.

Kingy, Tuck, Whitey, depends on injuries. Will slot straight into our 22 if healthy. Look how good we was in the finals.

Matty whites spot prowler.

Even if he only plays 10 games, he knows how to win and will teach Mcdough, Ohanlon and even Dusty tones!

Get him!! Even keep him on as a development coach if his body dosent hold up

Well it's not an idea plucked from my arse if that's what you're asking :p

one more thing - club wants him playing the big games, earmarked (barring injury) for Round 1 against Carlton, games against Essendon, Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn, West Coast, Fremantle, Sydney...he won't be lining up against just anybody but club will give him a few weeks on the trot to find some rhythm.

Would have thought that would go to knights, who's spot does knights take then? Would like to see Arnott get a good run in tucks inside role.

Just can't see a part time spot for a 12-15 game player in 2014
All about list depth I reckon. Nahas out etc. Already we are better off.
Knights is actually more injury prone than Chappy but that's beside the point.
Both are quality and its about gathering quality.
If they are on and a king or Shane Edwards are out that doesn't hurt us.
Maybe Chappy would be the casualty who knows?
No harm in finding out.

Knights is a depth player and was recruited on a small wage as a depth player. What did he last 5 games this year?

Matty whites spot prowler.

And jumper number. The stars are aligning. :p

We'll need some sort of competition in the pre-season to determine who will be called Chappy.

A robustly contested Chap-Off.

Rumble in the jungle season 2 "Chappy V Chappy"

"Who will be the ultimate State rep?"

Knights was starting to play some good footy before his knee dislocation. 27 yrs old and 100 games under his belt he is just entering his prime. Chappy is twilight at best and the game ain't getting any slower.

If we get him for nicks then so be it, not fussed as long as he earns his spot like whitey and a few others have had to!

Can't imagine us paying overs. We'll offer him a role, cheapish wage and leave the ball in his court. Don't think we can rely on Knights. Though one off each flank wouldn't hurt.
