Would offer a future second in a heartbeat. One of those rare players who improves there currency from draft position. Exact type of player we need at Essendon
How do you work that out?

I would have thought most clubs would be very suspicious that he's not getting games. Geelong see him a lot so would have a good sense of his current speed and disposal efficiency.

If he wants regular games and happy to see a rebuild through then we'd put our hands up. Being contracted may mean Geelong play hard ball at the trade table though. Norths current 2nd rounder is 32 but with up to 10 out of the first 20 selections being matched bids, that could really be 37-38 by the time you factor in the matched bids minus a few picks used to get points.

I don't think Geelong take 37-40 for a contracted 21 year old big bodied inside mid who has had 31 and a goal in a game before (I.e. While he's clearly not a complete player, he has strengths) Who was taken at pick 36 - I think out of contract he'd have lost significant draft value but with the extra year he should gain in value.

Why aren't you guys playing him? Is it hard to find in that midfield, or is just not doing what you need?
Its our stupid coach not playing him.... Does my head in that he hasn't been getting a game until tonight.... He is so valuable to us, for now and for years in time...
To us his worth a round 1 pick....BUT IM NOT SAYING HIS WORTH THAT, just saying as a player for us his worth so much to us...

What would he be worth? Round 2? As his still contracted? Or a round 3 pick?

would be keen. liked him in his draft year, but we traded out of that draft.

Was a pick 36 and his exposed AFL form, although sporadic has shown he can accumulate at will. The good team tax is always applied when coming from a top team. A pick lower than his selected pick would be about right imho.

The Cats however, being the class organisation and Stephen Wells being a good operator will let Charlie go for a pick upgrade and a token pick later in the draft imhol

Hang on a second, most GWS picks unless they have multiple years in the first team always go for less than their original picks. What is the above based on?

Pretty much I think Yoda. It would be a list management choice , and the need to move pieces to add different types.

To some degre I see it a bit like Prismall , struggling for opportunities , maybe at another club he gets it and grows, or maybe he doesn't . Thats AFL. Every player has his deficiencies.. Many great players had to find a second club before they got going., a bit one paced perhaps ..but no doubt he can find the ball and kick a goal.

Yes he is contracted so they would have to be happy to do a trade but I doubt it will not be a Kelly situation or a Gillies situation.

One would think if he is good enough , he will be PnP for someone after 3 years on our list and 21 turning 22 next year. Who would we be after no idea atm..

Opinions vary but it's basically that doesn't have a clear second position, he's an inside mid only so the only place he can rest is the bench. A full time mid has to go out first. Given Selwood and Dangerfields age he'll probably play a full year next year even at the cats.

I think the cats would be out of their minds to let him go for a second rounder. Right now the cats lose sometimes quite badly when we lose the contested possession count. Constable is the exact kind of player the cats will need in 2021 when from memory Selwood is 33, Danger 32, Duncan is 30 i think.

Recruiting a contested mid who needs 4 years development when your contested brigade has 4 years of good footy left is a master-stroke. Bailing on that strategy in the 3rd year would be silly.

If they have to trade him then I guess they have to but they aren't going to be happy with what they get back almost no matter what it is.

I would love him at the Swans. Seems undervalued at Geelong.

Scg suits him too. I think we will be more keen on a player than pick trade though so I am not sure what you would offer?

Im sure we could work out something , especially if a pick we dont want to take an extra pick this year... options ..trade to a team that need points, we could take a future pick, a pick upgrade , get involve in a 3 way trade or take a player that Swans are willing to let go that might suit our needs more. Lets say a speedy line breaker like Foot for example ..who knows. I do believe he would fit the Swans well.. and both clubs have been reasonable in the past.

I do agree with that I just think we already have 4 picks inside40 this year and I doubt we want more given how much of a lottery it is and given we are in the window we would probably rather trade him for a player or a future pick rather than a 2020 pick.

I agree with that ..whether its a player in a direct trade or an indirect trade etc.

Saints have been in his ear for the best part of 12 months.

They won't trade their first for him and they have no R2 or R3 though so the trade would have to be in future picks I think.

I have no idea what they would offer for him. But I know they have been in constant contact with him and their feeling is that his preference is to be traded to a Melb team.

Is an inside mid a pressing need for the Saints?

Steele is really showing what he can do, this year, whilst Gresham's transition into the midfield is ongoing. But, outside of those two, there's only really Dunstan as a known quantity. Bytel was a hotly rated talent in his draft year, but the rest of the young midfielders (both playing and untried) seem more of a hybrid inside/outside, or just straight outside types. Constable seems like the right type of player, with the right the profile.
