Seriously tho, when Trubisky starts, if he looks anything like he did in pre season, the Bears could get to .500 or more. Most rookie QBs first season bound to suffer thru a 3-13 season but with Trubisky he seems like a seasoned vet, which is funny given the knock on him was he barely started college games
He’s destined to fail. Who the **** is he going to throw to....

Kendall Wright and Tarek Cohen for starters. Plus, he'll find a way to get the ball to those other receivers that Glennon could not.

Don't forget Kevin White next season. Poor bastard can't stay healthy. Bellamy is a decent WR3. Wheaton will light it up in that 'one game' nobody will know about.. da Bears can't that bad... just give Packers all the kudos and move on. Bears on the road shouldn't be rated too high.

Glennon simply sucks that much people don't realize Trubisky would immediately hit open receivers like he were Tom Brady when he starts with the same receivers Glennon had at his disposal.

Bears benched Mike Glennon.

In a move which perhaps should have happened sooner, Mitchell Trubisky will take over as the starter. Barring an injury or catastrophe, the rookie should be expected to keep the job all season. Glennon completed 93-of-140 passes for 833 yards, four touchdowns, five interceptions, and three lost fumbles in four games.

---------------

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bears will start Mitchell Trubisky Week 5 against the Vikings.

Considering how bad Mike Glennon has been, it is something of a farce Trubisky did not see action during the first four games. The No. 2 overall pick will get his shot now, however, and at the very least is an upgrade for the Bears' skill players even if he is not a realistic option himself in standard fantasy leagues, especially with the Vikings, Ravens, and Panthers next up on the schedule. Trubisky completed 36-of-53 preseason passes for 364 yards and three touchdowns.

About time too.

Back into football this year after a couple of years off. Lots of roster changes in that time. Looking at the charts, is it inconceivable that we’d play a lot of 2 or even 3 TE sets? The way our receivers are at this stage, I’d be looking to target Miller and Sims on a lot of short routes. Big bodied guys who should go ok in traffic against either a LB or CB. Could help boost Trubisky’s confidence too.

Trubisky will show you do have the receivers. A good QB can get the passes to them regardless. Wright, Thomson, Miller, Cohen, probably unearth some practice squad guy too....you have receivers.

Without having looked at actual figures, it seems all of our fit receivers are on the shorter/lighter end of the scale. Not that that’s a bad thing per se, but I’d imagine it makes it easier to cover the deep threat.

Don't necessarily need 6'4" 220 lbs types. The little guys are killing the NFL of late. So hard to cover them, so nifty. More precision route running, short-medium routes, get separation across the middle. And there are little guys who are dangerous deep threats in the league, because they're so fast downfield they can get behind the CB. QB just has to rainbow it over the CB and between the Safety coming over.

Rookie quarterback Mitch Trubisky’s 12-yard throw to receiver Kendall Wright was more than a first-down gain for the Bears on a third-and-six play.

It was the first throw of a new era for the Bears as a franchise. It was hope officially arriving in Chicago on a long out route.

In the short term, Trubisky represents a brand-new offense full of bootlegs, sprint-outs, zone-read looks and scrambles. That was evident early and often in the Bears’ 20-17 loss to the Vikings. He’s everything that Mike Glennon will never, ever be

But a long-term outlook should always be included when watching and discussing Trubisky. Expectations should never be tempered for him because of the hope he represents.

Mitchell Trubisky completed just 12-of-25 passes for 119 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in the Bears' Week 5 loss to the Vikings.

The Bears scored 17 points total in Trubisky's first NFL start, but he was responsible for just eight of those. Chicago's defense got a safety in the first quarter, and P Pat O'Donnell threw a long touchdown on a fake punt for the other seven points. Trubisky started off hot, getting the Bears into Vikings territory on the first four possessions, but penalties and drops stalled drives and took big plays off the board. Trubisky's touchdown was on a tipped ball to Zach Miller that should have been intercepted, and he also lost a fumble deep inside his own territory while throwing a back-breaking interception at his own 30-yard line to set up the Vikes' game-winning field goal. Trubisky is clearly talented and can create with his legs, but he's a work in progress. He'll make his first road start in Baltimore in Week 6. The Ravens will be a defense to stream

BALTIMORE — Mitch Trubisky looked like “Mitch Trubisky, the second overall pick” for only two plays Sunday against the Ravens.

That’s it.

Two plays.

Maybe it’s time for more, no?

As unimpressive as Trubisky’s numbers were against the Ravens — limited by the Bears’ insistence on sticking to their run-heavy game plan — the Bears don’t win 27-24 in overtime at M&T Stadium without Trubisky’s playmaking abilities.

He ain't no Goff. But he's having a good start to his rookie season. Good doesn't have to be Deshaun Watson 5 TDs a game. That's far out. Very small percentage of rookies start off so hot. But the more important thing is, there's potential there, and a genuine chance to win. Much better than Glennon who was COSTING them wins.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, "several coaches" on the Bears' staff believe it will "not end well" for head coach John Fox this year.

Mike Garafolo, also of NFL Network, added that Fox seems to have "accepted his fate." A textbook over-thinker, Fox has gone just 12-32 over his three seasons with the Bears, peppering his tenure with embarrassing missteps. Fox cost his team a touchdown on an ill-advised challenge earlier this year and refused to let the 49ers score a late touchdown last week, instead letting San Francisco run out the clock and kick a game-winning field goal. Fox has been over his head since he arrived in Chicago and has finally run out of rope. The Bears are likely to start over with a brand new coaching staff this offseason, though at least they have a franchise quarterback to build around in Mitchell Trubisky.

Trubisky's best game.

He's still shaky as can be in the pocket but when he rolls out he can seriously throw on the run and take off himself. Shaheen coming on and should be good next year. O line can hopefully improve next year with Long healthy and some additions. Running game should be strong. Then if Meredith comes back as the 1 or 2 WR, Inman makes a nice 3rd option on the outside, Wright a decent slot guy and an addition in free agency to get a decent number 1 or 2 guy then you're looking at a far better receiving core.

Defense was excellent today without a lot of impact players. One more good free agency and draft class away from something really strong there.

There's enough light at the end of the tunnel when Trubisky plays well to think this year has been a stepping stone more than a waste.

Bears TE Zach Miller (injured reserve) had to undergo eight surgeries on his injured left leg.

According to ESPN's Jeff Dickerson, Miller has "no timetable to resume a normal life," but is confident it will happen. Miller hasn't given up on the idea of returning to football, but the 33-year-old tight end's career is likely over. From a contractual standpoint, Miller will be a 2018 free agent.

That would be the worst thing possible....going from John Fox to Jeff Fisher. Ugh, why, Chicago, why?

--------

According to Arizona Sports' Mike Jurecki, ex-Rams coach Jeff Fisher wants to get back into the NFL in 2018 and "could be eyeing" the Bears, Browns, and Colts' jobs if they open.

The Ringer's Mike Lombardi recently advised not to rule out Fisher getting another shot due to having a "lot of contacts" around the league and in the NFL offices. Fisher played and coached for the Bears back in the 1980s. But after his disaster run with the Rams and now seeing Sean McVay turn it around in just one season, it would be near impossible to sell a fan base on Fisher.

Bears hired ex-Chiefs OC Matt Nagy as head coach.

The Chicago Sun-Times' Adam Jahns reports GM Ryan Pace interviewed Nagy on Sunday and has decided he is the guy to replace John Fox, who was fired after the season. The Chiefs' offense took off after Nagy was given play-calling duties late in the season, and the coach was reportedly high on Mitchell Trubisky heading into last year's draft, a fact which certainly played a role in this hiring. The future of Bears DC Vic Fangio, who interviewed for the lead job, remains up in the air, but Chicago hiring an offensive mind at head coach could allow them to keep the talented defensive coordinator.
