The defense has definitely improved this year and particularly the last 8 or so games.
I actually think Eburflus is a good DC …. I just think he isn’t a good HC with any offense clue. Still, something small to build on going forward

Well I’m normally all doom and misery so **** it , I’ll enjoy this win against a divisional rival and leader instead for one week bear 🐻

Mooney FML 💀
How he dropped that is beyond belief

Oh well, there’s definite improvement but until they can hold a ****ing lead against decent sides we won’t go far

Perfect set of results.
As win with signs of progress, Patriots win and Panthers lose. Only downside was having to want the packers to beat Carolina but they looked appalling too so silver linings.
Starting to think the brass won’t take a QB.
I think Poles may trade down.

Fields contract is almost up, what do you then? Pay him and hope? If he doesnt progress significantly youre stuck in mediocrity, just missing the playoffs/making the wild card. Drafting in no man's land. Can you honestly see him leading you to a Superbowl? Pairing a rookie QB with weapons would be a far better idea, frees up cap space for the next 4 to 5 years. If they trade back it should be to take Maye or Daniels instead of Williams, move on from Fields and this coaching staff. This draft is your chance to get it right and be a force for many years to come. I dont see Fields on a 40m contract making you a force. Big offseason of decisions, youre in a great spot if you choose the right path.

Cool down, was stating that I think that’s the way they’ll go.
I see Fields as middling. Not as poor as you think but not a playoff winning QB.
The players are rallying around him and because we’re improving there’s a case for keeping him that extra year.
I’d see if we can’t get a second rounder for for him and go shopping if I’m the GM. Gut feeling is they won’t now.

Im not fired up. I want the Bears to turn the corner mate. Dont want to see them waste a golden chance. You guys could be really good if you get things right this offseason.

Welcome to Chicago Pick No1 🥳

Another good performance where even the offense turned up.
Were definitely making strides this season , even if still a way off the best
I genuinely have no idea if poles is thinking QB at 1 anymore

Really good question. Think it will come down to rookie contract for new qb will be too appealing to pass up plus as a GM do you really want to tie your future to Fields with a big contract headed his way in next 2 seasons. Plus Bears passed on Stroud a franchise qb would they will be do the same again in Caleb/Maye ?

Plus we don't know what fields will fetch in trade value ? There are alot of desperate teams needing a QB out there could be alot.

Really don’t know, might take a good trade offer now. I’m not as dismissive as most but would agree he’s still limited and not going to lead the Bears to any championships.
5 home wins in a row with 2 inexplicable losses late against Detroit and Cleveland are proof they’ve improved. The D is quite competent, O still a mess and think Eburflus may survive but Getsy won’t.

I think Fields is gone after looking over some stats and reading some articles I just don't think you can keep him for these reasons.

1. Injuries - His style of play is going to cost him games each season kinda like Lamar Jackson before this season. I expect him to miss 2-4 games each season. Which he has so far in his career.

2. 4th Quarter Struggles - Through Sunday's games, Fields ranks last in the NFL this season among 31 qualified quarterbacks in fourth-quarter completion percentage (51.8%), is 25th in yards per attempt (5.9), tied for 29th in fourth-quarter interceptions (6) and 30th in QBR (20.4). Since joining the league in 2021, Fields is last among 38 qualified quarterbacks in fourth-quarter interceptions (16), 36th in completion percentage (56.2%) and 33rd in QBR (41.4).

3. Holds on the ball too long - He's last in the league among 31 qualified quarterbacks in average time per pass (3.23 seconds) in 2023, and last among 38 qualified quarterbacks in that metric since entering the league (3.10 seconds). In 37 career starts, Fields has surpassed 225 passing yards six times. Eighteen NFL starters average at least 230 yards per game this season. CJ Stroud has done it 10 times so far this season.

4. 3 years hardly any improvement in his passing development. This basically sums it up for me. "I just think we know what [Fields] is at this point -- a great athlete and playmaker who misses some throws he shouldn't or doesn't always take the throws available to him," one NFC executive told ESPN. "You can win some games with him, and he's got some elements to his game that are really impressive, but it's not sustainable long-term from a pocket-passing standpoint, in my opinion."

5. If you keep him you got to pay him north of 40 mil a season in 2 years. Eeeeeek.

I know you’ve been a critic but he’s improved. No doubt at all but I’d agree it’s probably not enough to give an extension yet. I’d agree his arm strength, too many turnovers and quickness to deliver are sub par , not sold on the rest of your argument.
Stats can be manipulated to make comparisons as well. I saw this in a Bears blog and it’s skewed the other way.

Why are you so high on Bagent GG.exe ? I’ve seen you praise him several times.
I can only see the potential to be a solid backup
Hes from a small program so give him time. He showed enough in his starts imo that he can be something special.

Better explanation.....

You dont put up such insane numbers (small school program) without talent. You have to be something liike that to even get draft notice. Anyway, he was a leader, great work ethic, etc. has a great arm, release, spiral, has juice to scramble, has field vision, making reads etc ...albeit, all those things have to develop even nore for NFL standard. But i honestly thought he played with great aplomb and a sense of experience calm in his starts compared to other rookie QBs (all of whom were like highly drafted, top flight college programs).

Give him another year or two with a playbook and OC and he can and will/would make that jump. He kinda reminds me of Trevor Lawrence in his mechanics and general style, so thats the kind of end product he could become imo.

I love the positivity

Trade Fields, trade back for Maye, trade up from 10 for Nabers or draft Odunze at 10 🤤
I’m an advocate for that mate.
I’m totally off Williams now, would trade Fields while he’s at possibly his premium value, and as a Husky fan take Odunze. Him and DJ give us an offensive threat we’ve lacked for decades.

And hire Ben Johnson, what an offseason that would be!

Yeah Getsy out ( spacker plant )
Flus one last year ( excellent DC … head coach …. 🤷‍♂️
There’s finally a sunrise on the horizon, even if the McCaskeys are still there to **** it up if it comes remotely close to being successful
