I can’t help but think it was Collingwood’s decision to not follow through with Davies.
Surely if you have the opportunity to go to a big club like Collingwood, you’d take that opportunity. Especially with the amount of resources at hand there.

Edit: Just to add to this sarcastic quip.

I’m not moralising about the gambling industry per se, and the in and outs regarding the cruelty of greyhound racing, or even the abject hypocrisy of a supposed ‘father figure’ getting young men involved in gambling, which is a chronic problem for that demographic — let alone ones with lots of money and free time.

To have someone in charge of the football department, and someone in charge of the team, having gambling industry entanglements with players in that team, is an utter failure of ethics and is ripe for problems beyond the faintest implications of the bad look and conflict of interest.

Nothing good can come of it, and I’m shocked it ever happened, let alone is still happening with certain individuals.
